Green Tea, earl frey tea, special herbal ''sleeping'' tea mixes (I've got one with Lavender, Valerian, Chamomille and Peppermint: really relaxing), incense, play some gentile guitar before closing your eyes...or WHATEVER get's you in a Calm peacefull Mood should help you loose the anxiety.

I usually start having typical, sometimes rather extreme and a little unnerving, emotions and feelings right before Falling asleep. It's usually when there's something stressfull on my (subconcious) Mind. It becomes stronger while I drift off into a Dream.

SO my advice is to go to bed with a calm peacefull Mind. If, for some reason, there is some ''malcontent'' and ''inner struggle'' or anything that keeps your Mind too busy: You will probably experience the anxiety and also possible it may in many cases be the reason why many people, who have this, have trouble falling asleep.

If your Mind is NOT at ease, Don't try and force it to relax and sleep: it will only work backwards.Sometimes you just don't feel too well Mentally: Don't Ignore it...Take some time to give your Mind some well deserved Rest in that Case. Get out of bed and take some time to REALLY relax: It usually takes some time for people to be able to Really calm their Minds when hey feel stressed or anxious.

Also try doing a ''before bedtime''-ritual. Ritual as in: Take about 30 minutes prior to sleeping to unwind: Be all by yourself, no TV, People, radio or any External Stimuli around. Just you in a Calm silent room ( IF some music calms you down somewhat, sure play some music) and try and empty your head of excessive thoughts: It may prove hard at first but if you keep practising ''becoming Empty and ClearMinded'' you will find that in time you'll be much more able to. And that will really bring a peacefull sensation of wellbeing. In some cases, like when your Mother has just passed away: I could Imagine the Emotion and Thought Process to go slightly berzerk and race in a very Disorientating and Disturbing way through your Head: Insomnia may be unavoidable. It's just too much. It need a LOT of time to heal and before your Mind will find peace again. Otherwise: being bullied at school, Relationship Problems or any other ''minor'' things that make your Mind a Mess:
Take some time for yourself. We are usually pressured by Society and such to ''Carry on and hide our feelings''. But that will only build up a mountain of Unrest and Malcontent in your Mind, untill you reach a barrier and Freak out. So not only in respect of sleep, but also in respect of waking life: Wellbeing should be charished. And when there's something that gets you down, or stressed out and Mentally Confused and Uneasy: Take some time to fix it before it builds up more and more.

You need to take a mental calmness, a peacefull state of Mind, into sleep. Otherwise there'll usually be lots nightmares, SP-Anxiety and Restlessness/Sleeplessness I know from Experience ( Insomnia is quite an experience -_- )
