I'm sure that's a new record for me. you can read about them in my journal. I didn't do anything unusual, I wasn't even really trying hard to remember dreams.
what's the most dreams you've remembered in one night?

5 for me, that was after 3 days of trying too so I was quite happy, I'm hoping to get to 7 or 8 one day.
Lord of the Rings quotes:

"Behold, I am not Gandalf the Grey, whom you betrayed. I am Gandalf the White, who has returned from death. You have no colour now, and I cast you from the order and from the Council." - Gandalf to Saruman, The Two Towers

"Men of Gondor and Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails... when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship... but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when all hope comes crashing down, but it is NOT this day! This day, we fight! For all that you hold dear, stand, Men of the West! - Aragorn

"Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall." - Glorfindel

"in Rivendell there live still some of his chief foes: the Elven-wise, lords of the Eldar from beyond the furthest seas. They do not fear the Ringwraiths, for those who have dwelt in the Blessed Realm live at once in both worlds, and against both the Seen and the Unseen they have great power." - Gandalf

It is quite impossible to remember 8-9 dreams. Our brains only have 2-31/2 dreams a night for a 7 hour sleeping span. unless you've somehow miracuously stretched your REM time, there isnt a possible way that you remembered 7-8 dreams. You probley were remembering dreamlets that are some how connected to 2-3 dreams.

But I've remembered 5 dreams, and I've seen people say they've remembered 6 or 7 a night

how can you have half a dream? and you can steach your rem time by waking up in the middle of one and then falling back to sleep to have more dreams.. trust me i do this often.

It's quite impossisble to have an actual limit to the number of dreams we have per night. You could show some proof of this bold statement, but then we could post testaments of people having more than your "2-31/2 dreams a night" so it really doesnt matter: we all know that one can have as many dreams as one can remember.

And also, a little FYI: not all dreams occur during REM.

FYI-

the average amount of dreams to have a night (7 hours of sleep) is 3 1/2 dreams. If you have more, it's because you sleep longer.......not exactly a acomplishment to have 7 dreams with 14 hours of sleep, I've done my homework, i know exactly what I'm talking about.

No, so you're saying that its 3 1/2 REM periods. You're not saying that's 3 1/2 dreams. As Alucinor Architecton said, we also dream in NREM stages. And, if you had even read the main page, you can have multiple dreams during one REM stage. Lets say if you remembered 8 dreams (a heck of a lot) they could've been in only one or two REM periods, or they could've stretched out for the rest.

So if you're going to say you did your homework, make sure you read the actual site your posting on ok

I've remebered 5 medium long dreams... my recalls not that good though.

I have trouble seperating my dreams one from another. I'll be trying to record my dream, then I'll remember something that happened earlier but I don't know if it the same dream or even the same REM cycle. And dreams from different REM cycles seem to be connected a lot of times.

Oh well I'm glad if I can remember two or three good fragments. There are always parts that I lose. I feel them slipping away even as I am trying to remember.

unless you have a dream that you are having more dreams, or the scenaroes switch so quickly that you have no idea that it is the same dream...because i have had about 5 lucids in about 15 minutes 1 after the other, this was because i tried entering other peoples dreams dressed as freddy krueger, so each time the scenerio switched so did the dream...but i still kept consciousness and lucidity...(oh yeah to get the record straight, none of the shared dreams worked...)
