Was This My First Ld?

I am aware that many post threads similar to this, like, "I knew I was dreaming, was it an LD?". I am sorry to be one of those now, but what I dreamt last night was really confusing. I haven't written in my DJ for two days now and was seriously thinking about quiting because I had had no success, so this morning, it was very difficult for me to remember what I have dreamt - at first the only thing I coul remember was this dream about my ex on which I focused (cause I miss him a lot, boo hoo...). Anyway, as I was closing my DJ, this is what I remembered from a dream, looking at a digital clock that showed 9:something and when I looked back 11:something, at which point I told my grandma that I was dreaming. From that point on I don't remember anything. When I have a normal dream, even if it's in first person, to me it's like a story, I just do things that seem dictated by someone else, and can reflect on them in the morning. I always saw LD-s as an "awakening" in a dream. (Oh!! I can't explain!!! and I have to leave for school in 3 minutes!!!&#33. So, in this dream, my thought "I must be dreaming" seemed like one of my normal dream thoughts (dictated by someone else aka my subconcious, not the concious)... And I don't feel that I became lucid..but, that may be because of poor dream recall... Now, I'm gonna teleport to school, that being the only way I can arrive in time... Please read it carefully and explain it to me if you understand!

So the next time you look at the clock for habit, think what you'd do if it was a dream...it sounds to me like you dreamed of a reality check...it's hard to explain.

probably was a LD, just it didnt feel different because it was so short and you forgot about it til the morning, that has happened to me a few times

Thanks for the replies! Really, I read about your dream the other night and it's not exactly the same thing because, I realised I'm dreaming - only that I don't know if that was my concious mind or just my subconcious. I don't know if I'm very clear...

I know how you feel. The last most vivid LD I had was like that. (I think I wasn't very lucid since, I couldn't fly after I landed from a previous flight.) It all seems very "normal dreamy". And don't worry about your dream recall I didn't write anything in my DJ for a week now. Eaven though I remember some stuff sometimes I just don't have time to write it down. So really don't quit because of no recall for 2 days

It was proably a very low level lucid dream... were you did a realty cheak and said oh im dreaming but berly became lucid at all and lost it almost instantly and thats why it seems liek its not real (sorry about the speeling my Microsoft Word isnt working atm)

Any time I think that I am dreaming in a dream, I count it as LD even if I don’t take full advantage of the lucidity. I think it helps to build your level of confidence and reduces frustration. At least you know that you are on the right track even if your dream was semi-lucid. For example; last night I had a LD but it only lasted a few moments where I decided to fly but then I went back into normal dream mode. I have only had one dream that was fully, 100% lucid. It was amazing. Knowing that such a thing is possible is the only thing that drives me to keep trying. So keep trying it's definitely worth the effort.

[/b] If you become aware that you are dreaming, you're Lucid. Low level, schmo-level - you were Lucid enough to tell someone that you were dreaming. This is not ordinary, its awesome! Of course your LD's will get clearer and longer, but well done on the first one!

My problem is that I don't think I made that deduction conciously and that it was just a thought of my subconcious, like in a normal dream. Let me put it this way. First of all, when you have an LD, during your sleep, your concious mind awakens. That's the definition of an LD. Second of all, there are two kinds of memories, of the concious - things you do in our waking life - and memories of the subconcious - things that happened in dreams. These two are very different form several aspects. My question is : when you wake up in the morning and you have had a lucid, is the memory of it like a dream memory or like a normal memory? Or does it depend on the level of lucidity? (I think I've finally expressed my thoughts clearly ).

Though, occasionally I will have a dream so vivid that it feels like a waking life memory. Have you ever remembered an event and wondered if it was real or a dream? I think that line between dream and normal memory came be blurred a bit in any type of dream. Of course, if you are lucid then you know, right?

i had a dream exactly like that once. I counted it as an ld but still didnt feel like i made the decisions or controled what i did. I think it is just cause of the bad recall because i also had bad recall of this dream. so congrats on your ld

Do you randomly announce that you're dreaming very often in waking life? It sucks that you don't remember the rest of the dream. This has happened to me many times. It still doesn't change the fact that you became lucid during a dream, which means that you experienced a lucid dream. And I don't feel that I became lucid..but, that may be because of poor dream recall...[/b] Here's the thing: lucid dreams do feel like being "awake" inside a dream, while you are actually having the lucid dream. Once you wake up, however, you recall them just as well as regular dreams. The only difference being that because lucid dreams are both rare and sought-after (at least for people like us) they tend to be a bit more memorable - but they are still distinctly "dreamed" memories. It's a little difficult to recall that "awake" feeling that you had at the time, when you are merely recalling it as a dream memory. It's like remembering happiness when you're depressed, or vice versa. You know that at some time in the past you were happy, even though you are not happy at that time, and it might be difficult to even recall what happiness felt like. So in summary, you're right about it just being poor dream recall. Except it's not that your dream recall is poor compared to normal dream recall, it's that dream recall in general is poor compared to waking recall. Get it? It could help you to act out or verbalize what you're feeling. Run your hands over the walls and remark out loud upon how real they feel. Smell the air, listen to the sounds, and verbally narrate your internal dialogue. Hopefully you'll remember doing it and if you do, there should be little doubt in your mind that you were truly awake whilst dreaming.
