First goto sleep 6 hrs. set an alarm or have a friend call you, wake and get out of bed and perform a mechanical task that requires you to think and use your abilities, ex: start your car and move your parking spot. ex2: turn on your computer, check your email and print something, or visit this site. ex3: turn on your tv and dvd player and play a dvd perhaps "waking life". ex4: ride you bike around your block. climb a ladder hammer a nail when u get to top. After doing s'thing go back to bed, and enjoy yuor lucid experience, keep a notebook and pen and write your experiences here as a reply to this topic.

So you're saying you want us to do basically what we do everyday? I don't get it. You want us to sleep and perform different life task and go to bed and have a lucid dream? I don't think it's that simple, if it were everyone would Lucid dream consistantly everynight.

If you need to do something mechanical, why not just do some puzzles, study, or something like that. I really wouldn't want to go and do all that stuff in the morning, aspecially when I have to sleep, go to school and I don't have anything to hammer . Wouldn't that wake you up too much?

Doing those things while your very sleepy after sleeping 6hrs. will induce lucidity if you return to sleep...something quick, not puzzles or studying is too long and will wake you up more..

Sounds interesting, I'll try it as soon as I can. Could you please give more examples of things to do? I live with my parents and I would need something ... they won't ntice me doing, cause they'd start lecturing me (or even worse) if they'd catch me "ruining my sleep schedule" .

(MOST EFFECTIVE) After doing s'thing go back to bed and I always have a vivid lucid experience, I believe that you mind thinks it still awake but you are sleeping which induces lucidity, rather than waking up and going back to sleep, performing a tasks sort of gets your gears in motion, for example by me getting out of bed to move my car to the next parking spot always works because it only takes me 2-3minutes or less to do, and doesn’t make me wake up enough where I’m still tired. While my mind thinks I’m going to drive somewhere, I always have a lucid dream starting with me driving my car, always works, try it sometime.

Yes, I got that from your first post, but I don't have a car or a license so I can't park my car in a different spot. I'm 16. What else could I do? I don't understand what a "mechanical task" is.

      Arrow

A task where you have to use a learned ability such as driving, riding a bike, operating something that requires thought but something common enough that you dont have to be wide awake. Build a quick castle out of a deck of cards, make a paper airplane and throw it around a few times, you'll then induce a dream that might relate to airplanes, paper or flying...get it?

This is just a WBTB and by the way I did one this morning and I did not have a lucid dream so it isn't foolproof. No method is.

Exactly. This is the WBTB (Wake-Back-To-Bed) method. Well-known, well-documented, probably the most effective, but definitely not foolproof.

      I concur with Oneironaut...

This is a common method for inducing lucid dreams...

But I would hesitate to guarantee a lucid dream with it... That makes it sound like you can bypass the hard work of gaining dream recall, and the step by step method of work the Lucid dreaming usually requires...

So, be careful in saying you'll guarantee a lucid dream. As it's a very subjective thing.... But for all those that want to try this, it is a good method, but can be difficult due to not having the correct schedule for it.

But good luck to all who try it!

I didn't say it was foolproof, however do it enough times and it will Guarantee a Lucid Dream, it's the most effective way to induce, it's works by tricking your subconsious into turning off (Thinking your awake and gonna stay awake but you return to bed) allowing your consious to over power your dreams thus giving you Lucidity and Thanks for the positive feedback....REAL RECOGNIZE REAL.......

      I Guarantee You A Lucid Dream[/b]
I tried it, it didn't work. What are you going to give me, since you guaranteed it would work? I'll take a brand new kayak, maybe a camera if you'd rather because the shipping would be cheaper...

Seriously, I hope you stay around long enough to find your place here.

Right-o! No methods guarantee Lucid Dreams, some just work better for some than others.

I simply get up and get a drink. Walking downstairs seems like enough for me.

Granted I'm not part of the lucid group yet, what I notice is it seems to create a period of compressed vivid recall thereafter.

I.E., If I don't get up, I have my complete nights dream recall, it just seems to take a few minutes to aquire it all back as it seems more spaced out. But, when I get up at 6:00, get a drink, and then wake at 9:00, it seems as if more recall is apparent at the awakening from those 3 hours.

Not 100% of the time, just seems like this in a sense when I think about it. Most of the time I don't get up at all.

Here is what I'm curious about though...does waking and then falling back asleep only permit lucids if the correct dream then follows, or does the early awakening and resleep actually cause a higher state of awareness during those dreams which follow?

I'm wondering if for my audio induction, I should awake, get a drink, and then set the audio for the immediate sleep which follows, or if I should just be aiming for that time during the sleep without awakening...

      Experimenting will have to tell.

I wasn't referring to him getting chased away or banned or anything like that. I was thinking of all the people who show up to a forum, post a couple obnoxious threads, and then disappear in a couple days when they find that people don't stroke their egos. I hope he stays and becomes a contributing member.

I think he has; He isn't being a selfish asshat with a way too large ego because he's a natural, to say the least.
So. I've tried this method tons of times, and I have never had a lucid dream in 9 months -- 6 of them were hard dedicated work.

Dream Catcher NYC, You are the master, right? Tell me, how will I get a lucid dream?

I think DreamCatcher adds a twist that I haven't thought of for WBTB. I need all the help I can get, I have to struggle for every LD I get so I appreciate any hint somebody has, no matter how obvious to other people.

I usually just get up, go to the bathroom, try to write down any dream I remember, sometimes add whatever lucid aid I may be trying at the moment (earphones, currently a scent covered rag, etc). I think I will put something in the bathroom that takes a little more effort. I don't really want to go outside and wake up every person and animal in the house, so I'll think of something less noisy to do in the bathroom.

Maybe I missed the point of WBTB before; I probably did because I can't really get up a little early and drink coffee and stuff and expect to be able to go back to sleep. But maybe if I do this in the middle of the night, and keep it pretty quick, I'll be able to do it. I just need to think of something to do, I think I'll think of some mental things and some physical. Maybe something annoying like a Rubik's cube or something.

I'll let you know if it works for me.

Despite his... um, "confidence", Dream Catcher NYC has highlighted something that also worked well for me, which is the mechanical task part.

When I started trying WBTB, I would get up and write my dream journal for an hour, then go back to bed. No Lucid action at all.

Eventually I got a bit lazy, so I decided to just practice piano for an hour instead. I had my first ever WILD that night, and I continue to have a fairly good success rate doing this.

Not that its "guaranteed" or anything.
