Have you ever known you were going to have a lucid dream BEFORE you even have one? I sleep very lightly unless I'm having a lucid dream. I'll have my eyes close and I'll be sleeping but I'll be very aware of what's going on in the room. I'll know the fan's on, I'll know how my bf's lying next to me, I'll know if he moves although I won't snap out of sleep unless I want to. There's one sign in this phase of sleep where I'll know I'll be taken for a ride in sleep. I'll hear voices. They'll sound far off, distant, and I won't be able to understand them at all. It's like a crowded loud resturaunt, paying mind only to yourself, not others' conversations. Then one or two voices will stand out. Sometimes they're voices I know, other times I don't recognize them. Sometmes they'll call my name, other times I'll just enter a conversation they're already having.

Nonetheless, this is how I know (not every night I have a lucid dream) that I'm gonna have a lucid dream. When this happens, I don't know if the fan is on or off in the room, I don't know my bf's on his side or his back, I don't know if I'm on my pillows or his arms. If I'm at my house (which I usually am, just not recently since bf had surgery) I don't know how I'm lying, dunno if I have a movie in the computer, don't know if the door is closed, if my dog is with me, if my dog isn't with me, I just start dreaming.

And then comes the big question: do I control my dream or not? I often choose to just let dreams go to an extent. If it becomes troublesome I wake myself up or change it. There are nights though, I just wanna see what happens if I do nothing. What does happen if I do nothing when I know I can do something? Is it no longer lucid? I can just as easily step back in as I previously stepped out. I've been through freaky nightmares doing this though. Do you guys just ever sit back and let the realities of the lucid dream go with the flow? I've found some interesting things doing this.

      Hello,

To answer one of your questions: Technically speaking, the moment you become aware that you are dreaming, we say that you are dreaming lucidly. The control aspect comes when you use the dream sequence to resolve some issue in your life.

Your dream sequences sound interesting. Perhaps you can elaborate more?

      Cheers,
      Sanjay.

I can control things but I choose not to. I guess I like to see the improvisations my mind can make. Before I drift into a lucid dream I sometimes, not all of the time, hear voices of people who are going to be in that dream. Well, I hear a crowd of people and I can't recognize any real conversation until a few voices stand out. I can choose to acknowledge them or not. I see nothing though, it's complete darkness. When I hear a real conversation, the visual aspects of the dream slowly fade in.

I can choose to stay or choose to find another group of people, but I don't go back into my darkness, I just go into another room or something to find someone else.

I don't always control my dream though, even though I know I'm dreaming.

For example, I read someone's thread here concerning turning invisible while naked girls came into some doctor's office. If I wnated to turn invisible I could. I've done that with flying. I had tot each myself how to fly first but as far as flying, the sensation is very real and I get very nervous on my first flights always but I can choose to do things like that. I've chosen to have a super ability to climb very well, or hop over fences without difficulty. I'm saying, what if I don't do stuff like turn invisble, or fly, simply because I don't want to. Does anyone else just let things flow rather than interfere in some way? Sometimes I just like to sit back and watch, even though I know I'm dreaming.

      Does this help? lol
