Fun - big fun! We spend so much of our lives asleep - might as well enjoy it to the max. Also creative inspiration, self-discovery, thrill of a challenge, path to enlightenment etc...

I voted "interest in the unknown," but "fun" is far more accurate. New and challenging situations and experiences, (thus "unknown,") are FUN. It's also fun to have the kinds of abilities available in LDs.

My reasons for practicing lucid dreaming, or dream control? Well I’ll just give you two answers Lucid dreaming – to help get rid of the excessive nightmares. Dream Control – Twist, bend, and control large amounts of water, which would enlighten my attitude for the new day. For some reason I love water, snow, and ice, and to be able to move them in a dream without using physics laws, is my dream.

It has to be done... Purely for the purposes of appreciating the complexities and mechanics of the human mentalities and psycologies and use your experiences through participation of your fabricated existence to better understand all the subtleties, both meaningful and irrelevant, of life from a sentient perspective without the fear of suffering any of the consequences associated with the disreguard of limitations enforced by societies and the universe itself! Its also pretty good fun

I have many reasons, my main one [when this all began] was to find out why I always was being chased and/or murdered. I suffered from so many gory, iniquitous dreams that at the time, stuff that left me on the verge on becoming an insomniac. But that was over once I leanred the general meaning of death in dreams, though I don't see how it stopped it, but I won't complain. My main reason to LD now is to escape reality's stresses that are pushed upon me, though they aren't mine but when someone's critizing you almost all the time, and someone close at that, it tends to make a person apathetic, so LDs erase that feeling and replace it to the closest thing I think I can rightfully call joy, just being a me who is enjoying the moment fully and with an optimistic outlook.

Other, primary reason: Complete, unabashed escapism and wish fulfillment. Secondary reason: because it sure beats lying comatose on a mattress for eight hours a day. Tertiary reason: to hopefully learn time distortion and give myself the ability to live out subjective days, weeks, months, whatever I can get during my dreams. Coupled with wish fulfillment, I'd like to see if I have the mental brawn to invent consistent fantasy worlds and actually live new lives inside of them. Note that I'm not saying I want to sleep all the time to experience these things, only my physiologically allotted 7-8 hours a night, which is why time distortion is so big, and why I hope it's as true as some people claim.

i never bin lucid before but i can tell you what me reasons are: 1 for fun do things you never can do in real life 2 because i like to learn new stuff! and im really atracted to LDing if i ever get 1 3 to learn things and get answers to questions that i always wondering about(like why do we exist) 4 to learn more about myself(how can i do this if im lucid? very curious on this one)

Through my 9 months long process, I think I've learned new things about myself. About, what my brain can do. I though I had found my psycic limitations, I found I had found out everything about myself, but I found out in no time, that I'm not even close.

I am focused on maximizing my potential physically, mentally, and spiritually, and lucid dreaming certainly falls into that category. Also, it is a world of my own. Exploring the unknown never bores me as it is on my mind all day.
