lately i have been experiencing really strong vibrations as i'm falling asleep. I have also experienced weird shadow halllucinations and really loud noises. Like, deafeningly loud noises of some creature walking just above me. It feels like i'm awake, but it might be just increased awareness in the early stages of dreaming. . .

i'll admit, the last couple of times it happened (once it was like these vibrations woke me up in the middle of the night) it has scared the absolute crap out of me so much that i suspended my dreaming practices for a while.

Has anyone else experienced these kind of sensations as they are in the first stages of sleep? or at the periods where you wake up at night?

Although I understand that it can be scary, this is completely normal and you should let it flow. Don't be scared of this.
If you choose to browse or use the search method, you will find that there are hundreds of posts with you same fear and questions.
Education leads to understanding. I am at the utmost belief that this is where the ideas of alien abductions and ghost often begin.
How many of those stories sound like yours?

There are vibrations and hypnopompic hallucinations and auditory sounds as well that you experienced that is part of the transition of waking states.

I hope this helped and happy lucid dreaming!

The vibrations may be an indication that your body is getting close to having an out-of-body experience (OBE). People that have OBEs report feeling strong vibrations and paralysis just before they project out of the body into the astral plane. Have you felt separation from the body such that you can see your body lying in bed?

Ehh, that's all sort of iffy. Scientifcally Howetzer is right. If you actually read up on the technique WILD you'll notice that these are good signs. As Howetzer says, it means you are close to falling asleep, but you're more aware of it that you usually would be. This can be used to your advantage.

I agree with Artelis on this one.

In my (limited) experience, WILDs are almost identical to the symptoms described by people who believe they've had OBEs. I believe that OBEs are little more than WILDs with a little bit of retrospective self-deception and subconsciously selective memory by the dreamer.

Also, someweirdsin, for your info, the intensity of vibrations felt by WILDers seems to vary grewatly from person to person - I feel none, or close too. That said, I used to feel them intensely when I first started my WILD attempts. They decreased over time.

I understand it can be scary, but, it's nothing to be freaked about - the sensations you described are completely natural and can't harm you on any level. It's just your own body's workings as it falls asleep - the only difference is, cos you're WILDing (accidentally or intentionally) you are just aware of these sensations, is all.

I almost always experience similar sensations while falling asleep; although I am not well-educated in their scientific nature, I can assert than they act as some form of lubricant between the waking state and the dream state without losing one's self-awareness. I will agree with you that they are quite unnerving in nature, but I believe that they are a natural and pivotal step in the development of a lucid dream.

Morning has broken; but I lay dreaming.
Music plays on; but I lay dreaming.
The world got up, but I lay dreaming.

The whole world screams my name,
But I won&#39;t play their game.
The whole world can go to hell,
I just want to dream well.</div>

Thanks for the words of wisdom and comfort.

I have since had a very vivid WILD in which i experienced really heavy vibrations, but this time i just told myself it was a part of WILDing and just relaxed into it. The sensation which started as mild vibrations worked up to the point where i felt like i shook right out of my body, like sifting flour. The next thing i knew, there were images appearing in front of me and i knew i was dreaming and remained lucid the whole dream.

Since then, everytime i&#39;ve felt the vibrations start, it&#39;s actually made me really excited.
