Right, in my dream last night, I was walking around my area in the UK (I definitely recognized it) and I knew I was in a dream. I swear I knew it. I was chatting to my friends in the street and in the dream I was thinking that it felt so much like real life but I knew it wasn't (and it wasn't my mind thinking that, it was me in the dream thinking that, or so it felt) Then because knew I was in a dream I tried to take control of it, so I was pointing at certain places in the street so that people would walk there, and they did. I got a girl to take her coat off and put into her bag. But now when I think about it, I don't think I was in control because...I don't know,

It's soo difficult to explain and it was very strange. All I know is that it was very different from a normal dream.
I need to have another dream like that so it all becomes clearer, so to speak.

      Any thoughts?

      Will

Sorry, I just realised it's in the wrong section. I don't know how to move it. It's too early in the morning.

sounds to me like you had a lucid dream.

To have a lucid dream you simply have to know you are dreaming. You said that you pointed to a place on the street and got people to walk there. That is an example of dream control.

However, you can be lucid and often have no dream control.
      Hope that helps.

      Hey Willh

I need to have another dream like that so it all becomes clearer, so to speak.[/b]
One thing you should realize, is that when you're lucid, you have access to all the things in your head which you may not have access to when you're "aware" - your subconscious thoughts.

      So,

if you want clarity, you simply have to ask for it in your dream. The answers are there. Interaction with your dream characters could turn out to be quite an experience if you can manage to engage one.

The thing is though, when I was pointing to the street and they walked there, I wasn't in control of pointing to the street. It just happened and they just happened to go there. I felt in control in the dream, but looking back on it, I don't think I was.

So you pointed at a place where you wanted them to walk, and they walked there. Sounds pretty controlled to me. But as Irish Cream says, you don't have to be in control for it to be a lucid dream. Have you been trying to LD or was it having the dream which made you find the forum?

Anyways congratulations on the LD and hope you have another one soon

      Cheeeers mate.

Well I joined this forum two weeks ago or something and I started to write a dream journal about a week ago. Basically I just found out what a lucid dream was and also every couple of hours I'd check that everything I was doing was real, not a dream. I think that once you can differentiate a dream from real life, it's only a matter of time before you get a lucid dream.

Obviously I'm not at all experienced but I think what I'm saying could be true. Lucid dreams are amazing!

      Happy sleeping!
