I used the search button to make sure this topic hasn't already been discussed and I couldn't see anything, so here goes. I'm sure most of you have seen Waking Life, so I'm sure you can answer this question.

Is everything they say about lucid dreaming correct? Is the whole light switch and reading the time thing true?

      Thanks,

      Will

It depends on the person but mostly light switches dont work in dreams. Well time in lucid dreaming say in a digital clock can be messed up sometime or working fine. It depends on the person.

I had a lucid a few nights ago where I tested this. There was a set of four switches on a wall. Only one of the four worked. I know I could have made only that one turn on (because it was a dream), but I did not do it on purpose.

The realm of dreams doesn't comply with any rational rules, so yes, there is great chance that light switches don't work, or at least have unexpected consequences.

Light switches are tricky. Last time I went to turn on a light switch, the damn thing wasn't even on the wall. Tried to will the lights to illuminate but they wouldn't. I did manage to will 4 fans into starting though. Not a major victory but a victory none the less.

I can always read in dreams, books, newspapers, etc. Writing however, is a different story as far as Im concerned. I usually write something, look away and look back and it's become nothing but a jumble of scribbles.
I think that has to do with me having some severe writers block though. Once I break through that I should be able to write and read my writing in LD's again.

I belive all they said was true . Though, about the lightswitch one time I got it to turn on and off and then I couldn't the next LD. There really hard to control don't know why.
