I've posted this before but I'll do so again.
In the 70s I was in a guitarist in a band and one day we met up pre-rehearsal. The other guitarist excitedly told us of a vivid dream he'd had the night before in which he met an old man on a bench who was playing guitar in a very strange way. He showed us what the old man had showed him in the dream, which involved using both hands to tap on the fretboard, and also to bend strings with both hands. So we looked at what he showed us, and each person he showed interpreted it in their own way, and made something unique from it.
Some years later, with the release of Michael Jackson's "Beat It", we were astounded to see Eddie Van Halen doing exactly what the old man had shown my friend in the dream some years previously. Interesting stuff.
