Yeah its like you tell someone about lucid dreaming and they sorta look at you for a few seconds and say something like "cool", and its like.....I JUST LET YOU IN ON SOMETHING AMAZING!
I remember one of my freinds saying "Yeah thats nothing , i think i had one last night i was running from the police and i could choose were i went" .....THATS NOT LDING! it can be very frustrating.
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

Everyone I tell either just shrugs it off or thinks im in a cult....

I really wish I could be in this with some friends though.
I finally convinced a girl I wasnt in a cult and she actually got sort of exited about it but we'll see what happens there...

I completely agree. I think perhaps an interest in LDing has to come from within. Either you naturally LD, or you just "randomly" look it up, or someone mentions it and it becomes an obsession for you, or something like that. I think most people have their priorities "in order" and we can't really convince them that something is important to them. At the very most, I've talked a couple of people into CONSIDERING a dream journal. I think, though, it's fair for us to keep trying and telling people in case someone just needs a conscious nudge.

It's like music. Most people appreciate it, but some people are just against getting into it and trying it, no matter how many people tell them that making music is gratifying and life-changing.

From my point of view, it's like "WOW, who wouldn't want to work toward the ability to experience whatever they want?!" But people I talk to seem to think of it as either "That sounds interesting," or "Jacqui's crazy," lol.

PS When I read the subject line, I thought it meant "I subconsciously want to punch my friends in the face." And I clicked because I keep dreaming about beating people up.

It does get annoying. I have one friend that i told. and now she and i have made a fake cult. LOL. "We call it the Dreamers Beyond. 'Feel the dream'"
It's just for fun. We are constantly doing RC's. and asking each other if they're dreaming. We've both gotten close to a wild, but neither of us have LD yet. I already spent most of my time on the intrawebz (lol), and i admit that im a computer nerd. So nothing new there...

I've had several friends I've told in the past, that was along time ago, they all respond with the "hey thats interesting speach" but have no desire what so ever to do it, there has to be some explination, I do think you have to be very open minded to try it, my most open minded friend hates it when I talk about it, but that was after she became closed minded, it's very sad how people will refuse the offer to have/experience anything they want, it's like I hand my friends some big secret and they throw it away thats how I feel, honestly.

The worst thing I hate to see is natural lucid dreamers who refuse to take advatage of it, but here is my theory all the lucid dreamers are more likely to be hedonists which means that their main philosophy is to search for the most pleasure they can get out of life, well others are much more focused on jobs, education, how they will influence others, it's like their philosophy is to show off to the world, just a thought.

I think your right.

The new generation of LDrs are the people who need something they don't think they can ever get (for some its sex, others adventure, etc.)
These people want the things they can't have so bad that they look up ways to get it. Some find LDing, the rest either go the hard rout and make their dreams a physical reality, or just give up altogether.

Everyone I've ever told about LDing just went: "Oh, thats pretty cool." and dropped it.
I say you just mention LDing in appropriate situations (when you and them are talking about dreams for example) and not really chat about it anywhere else. If your friends have dreams they want fulfilled, they'll either find LDing and be like you, or they'll go out into the world and make their dreams a physical reality.
The bottom line: if they want it, they're gonna find it.

lespaulsRcoo.... i agree that it would be nice to have friends "in on this" too. i think about that all the time. i have all these experiences... i think about this all the time... and i have to keep it to myself and type everything to strangers i can't even see??? no offense, y'all, of course. but i want to SHARE this with FRIENDS!!! how cool would that be?

BillyBob, you're right in saying we should let the topic bring itself up... but i disagree that people will come across the answer if they're interested. for me, i didn't even know such a thing existed, and never would have found out about it had i not watched Waking Life. it's sad. i wish there was some infomercial giving it some "pub"... even at like 3 AM. then at least we'd get the 26-35 year-old unemployed male heroin addict demographic. always a valuable group.

Who cares, really? I mean, it's not like something else you want someone else to know about/do, because it's not like they can do it with you and nor will they be more impressed with you about it. Why's it matter, really?

Also, just do more subtle RCs.

Perhaps you may want your friends to learn lucid dreaming too, reasons obvious.
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.
