I have this question that's been nagging at me for a while.

Would listening to certain types of music make people have LD's?

I mean, I listen to Metal, and Death Metal. Most people hate that music, and it makes them feel like the music is pathetic. When I listen to it, it makes me feel extremely happy, and puts me in a good mood.

But if I were to listen to classical or something, would it effect my LD'ing?

Maybe I'm just rambling about something stupid, or do I have a point? Does it not matter? Share your thoughts.

Are you asking if there is a specific type of music that is capeable of triggering LD's? That'd be great if there was.

And do you mean listen to classical while your awake or while you're asleep?

I listen to classical as I sleep. I've been trying to use Mozart as a LD trigger, hoping that his music registers with me while I'm sleeping and in dream triggers me to do a reality check. I've had a couple of Mozart Induced LDs recently. They were unimpressive but I figure that's due to trying to work a new LD technique into my arsenal.

I don't know about ld's but it certainly effects my non lucids. One of my favorite dreams today was when I fell asleep listening to a radio movie[or whatever they are called]. Everything went black and white while the dreamed switched into the 1930's.

I'm not sure if it has affected my ability to have LDs, but I listen to metal all day every day. In fact, many of my LDs are enhanced by music. Ever wonder what it is like to be "inside" a song? It's quite amazing. Your appreciation for the music is enhanced as well. Imagine listening to Burzum's "My Journey to the Stars" while doing just that; exploring the cosmos.

And yes, the type of music will affect you based on your feelings about it. If I had an "MTV" dream, it would most certainly be a nightmare, lucid or not.

Alright, thanks guys. I'm just like you Never, I listen to metal all day and every day. My parents are still wondering why I'm not tired of it, considering I always have music on.

Eh, Vex! Post your arsenal, it could be of some help to us!

Hey, I'm new to the forums. I've been reading up on Lucid Dreams and I really want to have one. About the music thing. I share a room with my brother and last night we just put on static. Just plain old static on the radio with no background noise. Both my brother and I had the same results. We slept more sound, I woke up in the same position as when I fell asleep, and I remembered my dream for the first time in years. I think everyone should try this.

speaking of sleeping with the television on, does anyone else find that they need to have some kind of device running in their room to get to sleep? When I moved into my new house a few years ago they moved the computer into my room and while during the day you did other activities you didn't notice it, at night the sound of the thing just idling would drive me up a wall. I originally tried out earplugs but over time they got messed up and for some reason I dislike having the sound of my pulse beating in my ears. I finally ended up leaving the fan on and that's how I get to sleep now. It's nice to have a breeze blowing over your face and a wind sound in your ears. I find that even now it's harder to fall asleep if I don't turn the fan on, it can be below freezing outside and I'll have the fan on full blast (I bundle up of course&#33

I tried music and rain soundtracks, nothing beats my fan

Haha that's quite funny, but understandable.

I think there is something in the sound of moving air that puts us to sleep. I use a high speed buffer to do floors sometimes, and on nights when I didn't get much sleep the sound of it stirring the air (exactly like a fan) always puts me to sleep. I run into poles and all sorts of things. Anyhow, next time I get insomnia I'll try a fan

Yeah I was wondering aswell if music had any effects on the way you dreamt and which ones....Once I fell a sleep with a song sang by a classmate all day long and eventually dreamt of him...
We should each try techniques involved with music (for about a week so that the effects can be recognised....)....
Here I'll start: I'm going to fall asleep with music I hate....

      hahaha

Besides, you would become lucid and be like "OMFG shut it off!", and then you would wake up.

      Ha!
My arsenal isn't all that extensive. I mostly rely on HI derived WILDs during evening naps and early mornings. DILDs just happened whenver.

This year I've picked 5 dream signs and do a RC for each of them at least one a day. Im starting to recognise dream signs in dream now.

The Mozart thing I decided to try because the classical music station I listen to at night plays Mozart every couple of hours or so.

      That's it.

I'd switch to a different type of music at night but I'm semi obsessed over trying to get the Mozart thing to work. I'd be interested to see the results of anyone else's experimentation in regards to switching music.

I'm not fond of wasting money on music I don't like either. Perhaps you could find someone who possesses music you hate and borrow a cd or two from them to give this a try?

      Yeah.....of course I'm not buying a CD I don't like....
I'm gonna see if my parents (even if they've got good taste) have any song I personnally hate....But thinking about it: songs I hate the most are in the Top 40's (or whatever you call it...)
      Well, I'm starting tonight!...

If you like Death Metal like me, then you should listen to Necrophagist...technical death metal at its finest filled with so many neo-classical solos . Its bliss!

Ive had some pretty vivid dreams with Necrophagist so try them out, they have two albums Epitaph and Onset of Putrefaction, they are both really, really, I think I like Onset better, but try to get both!

I also listen to jazz fusion like Al Di Meola, classical, especially paganini for my guitar inspiration, and lots of other kinds of music

Ya, I've heard of them alot. But I love Nile's music. Also when I sit and 'absorb' the music, I love Glass Casket and Sworn enemy.

I'm not sure if music affects your LUCID dreams, since you have control over things. You could probably make your own music begin playing in the dream, so I don't know. But if you're talking Hemi Sync, then Yes that helps. Hemi sync duplicates your natural sleeping brain waves, so it puts you to sleep fast and such.

Sometimes I put on my Hemi Sync Lucid Dreaming Series induction mp3 on repeat., and it helps me get lucid. It's basically a guy saying "Check your reality" and "You're dreaming" and such, with calming music in the background.

Yeh I was going to say that, or maybe you could get a favourite song or something but just the instrumental version, and put a recording over the top that say you are dreaming, you are aware that you are dreaming, etc. etc. Or just make up some of your own, very straight forward lyrics, about lucid dreaming and record it over the instrumental. If you play the song all day it should influence your dream, maybe even just have it playing while your asleep so you will actually feel as thought you are awake still. If you have been doing reality checks IRL you will do one and BAM!

I LOVE Necrophagist!!!!!1111 Never tried to sleep to it though, I mostly use it to stay awake lol

I've had some really great dreams listening to Killswitch Engage, at first the music seems too screamish, but after you listen to an album several times through, their music is almost hypnotizing and relaxing, it can make you sleep or it can make you determined and pumped, it's really strange...
