Hey, I've never had a ld, but i really want to have one bad. If i take some paper and write the letters RC on them and tape them onto my walls and ceiling in my room, will this help? Like if i wake up dreaming and i see one will i become lucid after rcing. Please give some feedback

If you want to cover your ceiling with "RC" then go ahead! Also, if you can see through your eyelids to read the "RCs", that would help.

if you really want to improve your chances buy another digital clock and put it someplace where you can see it often. Then do a RC every time you glance at the clock...

your mind will filter out the "RC" sticky notes pretty quickly.

That really wouldnt be a good idea becuase you would have to RC about every other second if they were all over your room. You would soon get sick of this and start to ignore about 95% of them, you would have no chance of doing it in a dream you would just ignor it. Maybe one or two around the house would be good. Try it though, dont take my or anyones word for it, what is there to loose?

I think what most people miss when they go to dream is to really tell themselves "I'm going to dream." You can say it, but it isn't really enough until you instill it in your thoughts and fall down on your bed thinking that you are going right to dreaming.

Some reality checks that I've used, but changed after a while (for variability):

Putting Reality Check as the banner on my cellphone

Drawing RC really big on a binder that I use a lot.

Drawing a big ol' dot on the palm of my right hand.

Wearing a really big watch and having an RC each time I noticed the watched.

Having a RC everytime the sun was in my eyes.

RC Every time I lost my balance.

Leaving post it notes on every door of my house, with nothing written on them.

Watching for certain words in written text, actions like fall or quick

Every time I see I lightbulb

      And so on.

I understand your idea, but honestly post-its might not do it for you. (not bad idea, but haphazard, try something more permanent) What I did was, in my house, on almost every doorway, i put up a sign "LD RC" and as I go through there is no way I can miss it. the only thing is remembering to truly examine and think about my environment as I pass through. /|\

If you dream of your house alot, this can help |

p.s ---Maybe even if you go to bed thinking of ways to reality check, you might realize hey! I should reality check now! Am i dreaming? Yes! YAY!

I have RC written on my posters, incase I have a false awakening, it always reminds me to RC when I wake up. I also have pink dots on my watch band, so everytime i look at it i do an RC aswell. Although I never seem to look at my watch in a dream

I've only just joined here, and I don't quite have any partiuclar time I RC. I've tried to make one, but I've only really known about the whole Lucid Dreaming idea for a couple days

So far, I've figured out that my old house is a dreamsign. But I never see it in real life, so it doesn't help much to try and RC everytime I see it. When I do RC though, I try to see if I can make my finger go through my hand, or I compare the times on multiple clocks around me, look for things I've never seen before... stuff like that

I've never had an LD, I'm probably out of my league posting on this thread, the blind trying to lead the blind and whatnot, but I've been trying to associate doing RC's with anything that I look at simply for the sake of looking at it (rather than gathering info). Mountains, clouds, nice cars, nice asses... or anything that makes me curious like people talking to themselves (what are they saying?), people doing random things (why?), machines behaving strangely, etc...

Usually in my dreams I dont notice the really weird things but all the sudden ill see a tiny difference and go lucid.(example: my house could be floating and it will seem normal then ill notice my bed isnt in the right spot)

the whole idea behind the RC technique is that you do it so often like clockwork that it becomes a habit and you end up doing it in your dream out of habit and at that point the RC should fail and make you realise that your dreaming.

The best RC to use is to look at your watch remember the time, then look away and look back at your watch. If the time is the same, then you are not dreaming, if the time isn't the same the 2nd time u look then u r dreaming. Also, the watch is good becoz u can make an alarm go off every hour to remind you to do it.

I like the block nose one too;it's my RC of choice. It worked for me in my last LD. Of course, the time one worked for me twice...use whatever you think will work, I'm sure they are both fine.

If you have any roommates, you can get them to sometimes put up signs that say, "You are dreaming," in places where you will run into them. The surprise of running into one of those will stick in your mind and increase your chances of dreaming about it, especially if it happens sort of often. You can make a deal that you will do the same for them. Then they will try to do a good job with it so you will too.

The 100% fool proof reality check for me is floating off the ground by my own power. When I can do that, there is no question that I am dreaming. See my sig line.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
