Read a text 2-3 times. If it looks different on the second or third time you will know that you are dreaming.

By habit, I'm guessing. If you do it enough while you're awake, you should hopefully start to do it while you're sleeping.

I haven't been having lucid dreams for long, but I've found the WBTB method the most effective. Bear in mind, though, that it can vary depending on the person, so you might want to try different things.

I have an extremely hard time inducing a lucid. The only things I've come close with are WILD and FILD. When I did go lucid, it was a fluke that I became aware while dreaming.
      I sleep to dream.

Reality checks, reality checks and reality checks. (Maybe WBTB too, that one can be effective)

      Keeping a deam journal.

Making strong multi-sensory affirmations to become lucid whilst dreaming.

      Sunday mornings.

Keeping a dream journal is a must, as I have learnt from not doing so. Keeping LDs at the back of your mind is useful; very often when I read about LDs I have them; I can't really saw much beyond that.

I personally do not think dream journals are neccesary. After I wake up., I spend about 5-10 minutes remembering what I just dreamed. Then I can remeber everything for the rest of the day if I wanted to. The way I find out is I just pinching myself really hard. Then, just to be sure, I punch myself in the face a few times, then I start killing everyone

I used WILD today, and it worked. It was gay though, I just started walking down a road, and got scared as hell, so I woke up. I'm gonna' try it tonight again.

A dream journal is necessary, you will forget dreams. You do forget dreams, its that simple.

As for me, WILD just came natural to me. I have had chronic SP even before I knew about lucid dreaming and when I stumbled upon lucid dreaming WILD just came natural to me. I would say go with WBTB, that method is amazing.

I set my alarm to two hours before I awake for the day then slap the off button and slip into a WILD in about 30 seconds to 5 minutes.
