I'm 18. I got to know what lucid dreaming was, how to become lucid, etc. at 17, but I have had lucids before aswell, altough not as much as when I got to know all the stuff about it.

      EXACTLY the same for me
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

Uh, you shouldn't let the poll options intersect. It should be 10-16, 17-X, There are a lot of people on the intersect age and it kinda messes up the poll results. Also, 10-16 is a pretty huge demo graphic, really. Considering that is the time of maturation and everything its when peopls opinions are formed and all that...

I had my first LD when I was about 7, although, I've just recently found out they were considered LDs. I've ever since been trying to re-acquire the ability to LD, with little success.

I agree with ataraxis about the demographic- the ages intersect, and will lead to confusion.

My first actual LD was around age 27. However, I'd practiced dream incubation and "returning to dreams" - basically WILD but without becoming lucid - starting at a very young age. I just had no clue that it was possible to be conscious in a dream until around late 1999, so I hadn't had a proper LD until then.

My first memory of an LD was at age 13, I got the idea of trying to control my dreams after seeing the movie "Dreamscape", not sure if I had any before then.

I agree with ataraxis and Oneiro.

I think there are some things to consider: (no particular order)

      1. If someone doesn't know it is possible to control a dream, chances are they won't even try.
      2. If you don't know to record dreams your likely to forget most of them.

I'm sure there are other things to consider like medications or something of that nature.
Physicist A says "a Black Hole exists".
Physicist B says "Physicist A hasn't proved it without a doubt".
Black Hole says "your laws don't apply to me, therefore you are both wrong".

I'm 25 and I've been LDing for about as far back as I can remember.

I would have put "always been," but the earliest LD I can actually remember having, was when I was probably 5. My lucidity always began by recognizing that what was going on was a nightmare. This went on for a while, before I learned how to wake myself up, when I wanted to and then, later, learning how to stay in the nightmare, manifest weapons and abilities like flight, and fight my nightmare creatures. So, I put -10 on the poll.

[Edit: And I agree about the intersecting ages. I didn't even notice that 25 was on the next option, too, so I clicked on the second (overall) answer.]

That's probably the biggest one. It's amazing how powerful mere suggestion can be. Simply knowing it's possible can be enough in many cases; it was for me.

I think you had a good idea, Developer, unfortunately let down by the ages overlapping. I also think that the age ranges could be improved: 10-12; 13-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50+. Then you'd have a better idea of how many teenagers you have, and their spread. Maybe do the poll again? Would the people stand for it?
