Okay so I've had quite a bunch of Lucid Dreams in my Life. Naturally since Youth and later, after a horrible +/- 10 year DrySpell, I must have had about around 20 Lucid dreams after Learning about the subject of Lucid Dreaming and getting back into it. Maybe another 10 Near and Lowly Lucids. Nowadays I'll just have Lucids very Sporadically and Spontaniously while I am not attempting anything.

What I'm trying to Find out here is What is that Leads to a lucid Dream when you're not even trying. Most of my lucids if not all where induced by a Spontanious Memory to do a Reality Check and then Wathcing it Prove I'm Dreaming. But also sometimes in a Dream I'll just SUDDENLY out of the Blue get the Notion that I'm Dreaming. I usually still perform a Reality Check allthough I am allready very certain that I'm Dreaming.

So what are the factors that Lead to These Spontanious Clearminded moments in turn leading you into Lucid Dreams?

I want to do a sort of Survey and ask all of you some questions. The Questions are meant for ALL the times that you had Lucid Dreams to see if there is any Consistency in these Factors. Copy this and Answer the Questions.

1.Where there any Factors before sleep, the day or night before, that may have had some influenced your State of Mind or Sleep in any way? Tea, Drugs(This Means Alcohol too), Coffee, Cigarettes, Emotions, Fear, Physical Activity, Sexual Activity...ect? Think of everything.

2.How tired were you when you fell asleep and had a Lucid?

3.Was there any Change in your State of Mind, how you Felt, when you fell asleep and had a Lucid? Did you mentally and/or Physically Feel any Different from ''Usual''?

      4. Was there any Enviromental Factor like, Temperature, ambient Music and/or Sound, specific Lighting/lightlevels/lightcolor, Presence of Someone sleeping with you i the same room or Bed...etc that may have contributed to your Lucid Dream?

      5. Did you feel Noticably Fresh, Alert and Awakened or Drowsy, Slow and Off Guard when you fell asleep and had a Lucid?

      6. Any other Factors that I might have overlooked and thatyou can think of yourself that seem to occur often before having a lucid Dream?

I am still quite riddled about what it is that makes me have a lucid the one night and a non-lucid nearly unmemorable dream the other. I hope with these Questions answered I can find some similairities in the Answers to Spot any Factors that seem to be Connected to Lucid Dreams Following.

In case you cannot really remember these Factors you can always start to be aware and take note of them now for your Lucid Dreams yet to Come. Help me get a good number of people with answers so I can start looking for Similairities in these Factors.

      1. Only that comes to mind could have been running or weight lifting. Other than that nothing. Definately no stress. Can't sleep or dream with stress nevermind lucid.

      2. Not super tired, but not awake either. I usually fall asleep withing 10 minutes of lying down at home.

      3. Felt physically different in the lucid. I felt powerful yet there was still that hazy/tired feeling of being in a dream.

      4. No sound whatsoever (very quiet neighborhood), small amount of light coming through the window from a street lamp, can see pretty well when eyes adjusted. COLD! Winter in Connecticut. I sleep much better when its cold outside.

      5. Felt normal upon waking.

      6. All of the above is from 5 months ago roughly, when I was still under my parents roof. I haven't had a single lucid since moving out (which happens to be 3000 miles away). I have a feeling that when I move back, lucidity might return because I can't replicate 1-5 where I live now.

Nice topic. I'm interesting in seeing more responses.
      I sleep to dream.

When I had my lucid dream it was after an astral projection attempt (failed)
I went downstairs and greeted my mom and sister who had just got home, then went back upstairs, turned on the TV and laid down on the couch. I must have been pretty tired because I just kinda fell asleep, ended up in school and realized I had already had school today. when I woke up from it my heart was pounding. hope that helps.

I don't think there is actually something that triggers (random) lucid dreams. It's like asking what made me suddenly want a large, dancing octopus in my dream. I certainly don't spend my time thinking about dancing octopi, nor do I eat seafood, or even come into close proximity with sea creatures or shows on TV about the sea or an octopus. Suddenly realizing you're dreaming is like suddenly wanting a dancing octopus in your dream. Nevertheless...

A severe marathon of DDR and a couple of rounds of spinning in my spinny chair, but that's it.

2.How tired were you when you fell asleep and had a Lucid?

As tired as I was every night; which is pretty tired considering I stay up till the a.m.

3.Was there any Change in your State of Mind, how you Felt, when you fell asleep and had a Lucid? Did you mentally and/or Physically Feel any Different from ''Usual''?

      No

      Nope, nothing.

      5. Did you feel Noticably Fresh, Alert and Awakened or Drowsy, Slow and Off Guard when you fell asleep and had a Lucid?

      No. I felt like normal.

      6. Any other Factors that I might have overlooked and thatyou can think of yourself that seem to occur often before having a lucid Dream?

No. It may help to point out that I wasn't thinking of lucid dreaming (granted, I didn't even know what it was) so could not have sub-consciousness triggered it with this in mind.

Hmm. I'll input my data, but I don't really know if any of it ties to the frequency of my LDs and all. Good luck with your research-- I'm interested in seeing what you come up with.

      1. Most of my lucids seem to occur on Friday nights. When it's not a schoolnight, I tend to have a cup of coffee, read, relax, and go to bed. I run every weekday with my track team, but it's not espescially grueling: exercise helps me sleep. LDs don't occur when I'm very stressed or very sleep-deprived; I think in those cases my body needs to concentrate on other things before it lets me focus on dreams.

      2. Usually fairly tired. My lucids seem to occur when I go to bed when actually sleepy. During the week, usually, I go to bed because I have to, not because I'm actually exhausted. This produces stress-- "ack, it's 1:00 AM and I'm still up!" and so on.

      3. I don't think so. The prospect of getting extra sleep might be in my mind, relaxing me.

      4. I've noticed that lots of lucids occur when I'm at my mother's house. My weekday home is sandwiched between a lake's shore, a highway and a freight railroad, and these produce LOTS of noise together. My mom's house is far quieter, and my room better insulated to sound there.

      5. Felt normal on dropping off, and fairly normal on awakening-- maybe a more satisfied and happier than usual.

      6. Hmm... I don't think so.
