1) How long was it from the time you started attempting to become lucid until the time you actually had your first lucid dream.

2) What technique(s) did you use in your 'training?'

Sorry if there has already been a thread like this. I'm really not trying to piss people off and if I am please by all means PM me and let me know and I'll stop posting.

Thanks guys!

No need to stop posting, who cares if you annoy? your following the rules. Anyway, It took me a few weeks, and I'm nowhere near consistently being able to have them. So far I've had around 12, none longer than maybe 30 secs as far as I know. The thing you must remember is patience...the most important...everyone gets frustrated but don't give up..because once you succeed (which You will) you will realize it was well worth the effort. I suggest beggining, just by doing a few reality checks during the day. Say, set your watch to beep every hour, and then all you gotta do (this is pretty much how I do it) try to breath in through your piched nose. You will find if you are awake, you will notbe able, but if you are in a dream you will. YAY! Just make sure not to let it become reflex, look around, ask youself "Could I possibly be dreaming? " do the RC, think about LD'ing for a moment (a fantasy can't hurt) and then off you go about your buisness till the next hour, or whatever time you want to do it...

So the key things for you I would say to begin are

-keep a dream journal(even if you can only remember 1 peice, some may come back during the day)
-Do thoughtful reality checks (RC's)
-Don't get frustrated

Anyway, I wish you luck, and you can PM me as well with some questions, I want more LD's too, and am trying to figure out how to get them.

Anyway, talk to ya soon

I think it was 10 days or less for me...
But even before I learned about Lucid Dreaming I've been a really avid dream journalist and have a good dream memory.

Too bad my LDs suck.

I had my first LD within a week of doing some active research about the topic. It was a very short DILD. Of course, after that I went about a month without one until I started reading EWOLD.

I wasn't really "training" to LD at the time, but my experience motivated me to learn more. Also, I wasn't keeping a dream journal at the time but my recall has always been fairly good (2+ dreams a night at the time).

Best of luck in attaining lucidity.

1) It took me just under 2 weeks to become lucid.

2) I used a WBTB method with a MILD. I also used Reality Checks and kept a Dream Journal too.

Just remember its different for everyone.

I don't exactly remember when I really got into lucid dreaming, but when I had mine I was mostly interested in Astral Projection, and had only heard bits about lucid dreams. I got lucky and had my first lucid on Jan 30, and I had been interested in Astral Projection since the previous summer. Now my focus has shifted to lucid dreaming... I wasn't using any specific method for lucid dreaming then.

I know that for me, I started having lucid dreams before I tried to have them or even knew what they were.

I do know that I learned what they were 5 years ago and then tried to become lucid only three years ago. I didn't do any trainning, but now I guess I do, I try to practice reality checks and try to see if anything I've taken/ate may have affected my dreams, triggered a lucid, or affected dream recall. Sometimes I als otry to use the sumbliminal message program but it doesn't seem to work because I don't seem to use it enough [maybe once every moon?]

Last night was day number 6 and I had my first false awakening and as I was falling back asleep in my false awakening I did the nose RC and had about a 5 second lucid in which I watched all the buildings around me morph. Pretty cool.

Yes, be patient and you'll be a lucid master in no time!

My main tips: Don't get anggiuse ( I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SPELL THAT ) and take you're time while lucid to become more in control. Try spinning, rubbing your hand, looking at your hands and remember to constantly think that you're dreaming and you're actually lieing in bed, sleeping.
LD count:15
DILD: 8 + (1 lucid without control and 3 with lousy recall)
FILD: 1
DEILD: 1
Incubated lucid dreams: 1

Ok now for my second questions.

-How long have you been lucid dreaming?
--How often do you have lucid dreams?

Thanks guys!

That sounds like good advice to people who have short lucids but I don't recommend the spinning, the few times I've tried that I've either lost lucidity or lost the dream

As for the next two questions;
I've had lucid dream since I was eight because of reoccurring nightmares that disappeared when I finally dealt with my demons [though what led me to discovering what lucid dreaming was due to similarly violent and very dark lucid dreams that I couldn't control]

I used to have them often, about one to three times a week but since I've joined IB the frequency dropped significantly [I think it's due to the stress of adjusting to a rigorous program and the pressure of my family expecting me to ace everything still, they aren't even happy with a high B...].

Currently, I'm attempting to break a dry spell so if you based it on the dry spell, I'd say thrice every other month

Last night I woke up at 3:41 in the morning with an intent to do a WBTB. It was thundering so loud I couldn't fall back asleep for more than a half hour after writing down my dreams. When I did fall asleep, I dreamed that I was still trying to fall asleep. I'm getting closer and closer everyday. It's been exactly one week since I started trying and I think any day now I'll have my first lucid.

2) I used basically just a dream journal and reality checks until last week when I induce my first WILD.

1) My first dream journal entry was June 9th 2003, and my first LD was Jan 21, 2005. So over a year and a half before success.

It took a while, and to this day I have only had 4, maybe 5, LDs. But, I know that this scarcity of LDs was due to a lack of diligence (I would often go weeks or months w/out writing in my DJ) and not having regular or long enough sleep cycles during high school.

It took me about a month to get my first lucid. I got my first one (and many more) just by performing reality checks throughout the day and also knowing in my mind that I would soon (pretty muc DILD). I have had some success w/ WILDs, but I haven't relly been trying them very consistently. Good luck!!!

It took me three days, at first my lucid dreams were lasting about 30 seconds each. Then as I focused more on it and did reality checks on a regular basis. Now my lucids average about 20-30 minutes each. You just have to believe in yourself.

Surprisingly, I don't really use any techniques, I just think about LDing all day and will usually remember I was thinking about it during a dream (I guess this is kinda a technique)

I have the opposite problem. When I manage to have a lucid dream, it lasts for several minutes and is generally pretty stable (though so far I haven't remembered to do anything cool in an LD); but, I have them very, very rarely.

It took me about 1 week of RCing and thinking about Lucid dreaming to get my first lucid, since then I've had 1-2 lucids/week .

Back then I used DILD techs only (like RCing, enhancing your awareness etcetera). Recently I've had good success with MILD and DEILD too. DEILD is probably the best method ever, imo.
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

1. 16 days since I really started trying (i.e. I joined this site and got an understanding for wtf LDing is), though I had had a few before and thought, "I really want to do this again, I bet there are a ton of possiblities", but I really didn't know what LDing was then. (I know the exact # of days because I looked in my dream journal answering a similar question a few days ago.) This LD I didn't recall though, and just knew I had it, and if you want LDs where I actually remembered what happened, then add a few more weeks (though I still haven't had one with Good control).

2. Basically all my LDs have been DILDs. The first couple were induced by following that HILD tutorial, which led to an LD soon after. A good portion of my 23 LDs have been from my autosuggestion RCs (I do autosuggestion when I RC). I may also have had a couple MILDs, but I can't be sure if they were that, or simple DILDs.

I had my lucid after the first day of reading these forums. The first weeks were great, until I tried to WILD. Those attempts ruined my sleep cycle and had me at their mercy for months on after. I think Im ready to come back though!

Since trying to LD it took me two weeks exactly to have my first one. I keep a dream journal and use update it regularly. Oddly enough, I don't think I used a technique, it was just an odd situation and I realized I was dreaming, I guess the method would be called DILD.
