Okay, I didn't really know where to put this, so I put it here. Yesterday morning I woke up around 8 AM, then lying down, going into an extensive dream, with lucid parts. It's hard to describe, the dream was somewhat pre-sensory in the visuals, I wasn't actually seeing everything with my eyes, especially in the later phases of the dream. The dream revolved around me and my familly walking around town, when suddenly an evil force, in huge numbers, arrived. We rushed to our house, only to find another house, I did, however, find my bicycle, which had been sprayed a white/greenish color. The handlebar was gone, which I found later on, when I had an encounter with the evil force, who I fought and in the struggle, the handlebar was pushed against my chest. I woke up with a strange feeling chest. The dream had a lot of audio, the visuals were almost fully in my 'mind's eye' later on in the dream, and I had a low awareness of the fact I was dreaming, enough to control the dream, not enough to make any significant changes, or change the setting and plot of the dream. Has anyone had this, or does anyone know what this is? I thought it might have been NREM sleep, but that would not be as well remembered, or as strange

I think Ive had this before.

I believe that dreams sometimes fall between being a daydream, and being a proper dream. Sometimes a dream consists of a story with a few fuzzy images, like a graphic novel sort of. But the main part of the dream is just - thoughts, narrative, no actual visuals. Not quite a daydream, but verging on. Does that sound like the same thing?

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I've had a couple of times where I realized I was in a hypnogogic state... as in, I was laying in bed and I was basically LD'ing, except that nothing was happening. I was just laying with my eyes closed and blackness all around me and I was sleeping. It "felt" like what one would imagine being in a trance would feel like, but with more consciousness. Very weird. Something like that?

Occasioanlly I have dreams where is it just aural, I hear things and see nothing. but I think that is just a pre-dream stage before I get to the visual part of dreams.

Then again i would be interested if anyone has LDed with just audio....

TBM, your description sounds a lot like mine, but in my case it was more like a dream I fell into and out of, with some points of full dream like visuals, and sometimes just thoughts, but the audio was definitely there all the time. It sort of sucked, because I was SO close to being lucid

I've had things that fit the despriptions of yours, and it seems to be a very natural thing, though I usually don't have them. It's as though I'm feeling my way around with my mind, instead of the images. In those dreams, there are some visuals, but they are not sharp and are hard to see.

I had a dream like this... the way I described it is that I would step out of the dream, plan the next few events (I thought in English, but no audio) then step back in and go through the motions. The only sound in the dream was one thing that my sister said to me that prompted me to stop beating her up and go pick on someone my own size. I ended up skipping three hours and killing Magneto. The last image of magneto dying was forced, as if my subconscious was ready to end the dream with that last picture of Magneto and I looking at each other, and just agree that magneto was dead.

Got carried away... that must be the third time I've described that dream here. I was lucid, and I have to admit that because I transformed, teleported and used telekinesis, all on the basis of knowing I was dreaming. It wasn't as fun as I'd been hoping for a lucid, though, since it really wasn't any better than a daydream.

I'd call that poorly remembered, since you don't have nearly as much to remember. It could be NREM.

Good topic. I had such a strange daydream yesterday actually. I was very dizzy early in the morning. I believe it was my Bloodsugar being low. I was very lightheaded, near fainting all of the time, had a constant sort of itchy and empty feeling inside my chest and felt a little bit of nausae. I had risen from bed 5 o' clock that morning, which I usually never do, so I also was rediculously sleepy. My girlfriend called me and sais she would be on her way to me with her friend. I thought I'd lay down and get some sleep since I obviously needed it. While I was dreaming away, which went very fast, I kept aware of my sense of Hearing as I wanted to be aware of the Doorbell ringing. Then maybe only 10 to 15 minutes passed and I was called again that they were on the way and if I would walk and meet them halfway. When the phone rang I was very deep and ''far away'' from my physical body it seemed. As if I had Dreamt away and the ringing phone was slowly bringing me back into the situation I ''paused'' earlier and had fallen asleep in. As I opened my eyes I noticed that the space of my room I had imagined I would see uppon opening my eyes was completely different from what I got to see. My pre-expectation model of the room was turned about 140 degrees and seemed very vague, light/faint and distorted. It was quite a shock to experience how far away I had just been from reality and I was still not quite back. Heavy duty disorientation and vivid daydreams with faint images that suggest Out of Body-ish type of experiences. Very Strange, very exciting.

I've had audio only dreams before - it was actually more like an audio hallucination; I was half asleep and I could hear a Simpsons episode playing, yet my mind was making up all the dialogue in real time.

Occasionally on entering a lucid dream I find that many of my senses, including vision are disabled until I wait a minute or two - I just float in a void rubbing my hands together in order to bring on the dream.
