Something that has always been at the back of mind and kept me wondering is if a sort of controlled hallucination, like a lucid dream in the day, is possible. Would it not be awesome to, while in a boring class, create some kind of mini-war scene on your desk, to throw fireballs around the room?

I've never tried to train myself to do this, mostly because I am scared of the risk of losing control of the hallucinations, and then having episodes like in the movie "A Beautiful Mind", where the hallucinations don't go away (or in his case, he just got mentally ill... I think it was schizophrenia).

But anyways, has anyone ever tried this, and if so, what was the success.

Also, Has anyone been able to control the imagery in your head? Its very hard to be able to control imagined images, and even when I was little i remember it was difficult to keep an image in my head without it morphing into something I didn't want or moving away etc.

Has anyone ever experienced a "3D" sensation when you close your eyes? It's happened to me once, when I was meditating, and all of a sudden the blackness seemed to become three dimensional and it felt like I could move through it like the ocean, but it ended.

BTW, here's a link on Controlled Hallucinations: http://www.bio.net/bionet/mm/neur-sc...ne/024159.html

      What do you guys think?

Wow, thats fascinating. I have a sleep mask where you can keep your eyes open, and still be in pitch darkness. I will try this, and report if anything interesting appears.
      Thanks for the link.

That would take very very good visualization skills, most people don't have those.

I get that 3D feeling when I meditate too, I think it's related to not moving for extended amounts of times. I get the same feeling during WILD attempts.

Without the aid of LSD I don't think the controlled day dreams are possible.

But Homer Simpson had them in the isolation tank!
I'm determined to try it very soon, and I will report here. I just got a sleeping mask with which you can keep your eyes open, it will be ideal to try with it.

Have you tried out a Ganzfeld Device? You can make one out of a ping pong ball cut in half and taped over your eyes.

Ganzfeld is a somewhat different concept I think.
This is sensual seprivation, and Ganzfeld is sensual overload.
Ganzfeld is supposed to attack your hearing and sight senses by constant stimulation ( red sight causes by a red lamp and the ping pong balls, and constant hiss of white noise ). Once your senses become habituated to the stimulation, they become clear of any external sensual interference. This can be used to induce visions, but I my guess is that they will not be as complex as images or scenes that are created in the complete darkness.

I'm talking about just the visual aspect of it. I find that I get similar results when I am actively trying to see into total darkenss, or into total whiteness. I get visual hallucinations and see the 3D hallucinations more easily when staring into pure white.

Trying to see into pure darkness is a little tricky, because of the association with sleep, closed eyes, emptiness, ect.

Try it out. Put 1/2 ping pong ball over each eye, and start daydreaming & visualizing in a well lit room. It gets real crazy real fast.

Sounds cool, I'd probably cut the ball badly and cut my eyes though.

What kind of stuff do you see with this and whats it like?

It's very similar to HI. I very quickly get rainbow colored flashes that turn into geometric or line patterns. Then It progresses into flashing images that I can have varying degrees of control over.

I've heard it's different for everyone, and I'm sure it depends on the meditation technique you use. Unfortunately, I have not done it in a few years.

It's hard to describe how it deviates from regular HI. I guess the main difference is, your eyes are being bombarded with light, but have nothing to focus on. When you try to focus, and try to see something, you get images that are fully lit, very bright, and look 'projected' onto your field of vision. When I get HI while falling asleep, the images appear out of darkness, and seem a little more dream like - out of context, or just appearing in my minds eye.

I've heard that some people get a total loss of color, and start seeing black and white images. I get very bright color, almost like a lazer light show or a rainbow from a prism.

This is making me want to try it again.
