Things in RL Surroundings appear in Dream?

Well, before I ever came here, or ever started LDing, or even heard of it, I used to have some dreams where I would see a distinctly weird shape in my fading dream, and then when I woke I would see an exactly same shape of something in RL.
Is this to do with my eyes just waking up and seeing the light around this shape, and seeing the drakness of this shape?

Just thought I'd bring it up.

I have no evidence to support this theory, to start it would not seem logical that the shapes are purposely forming shapes of objects in your room as you awake because you only see your surroundings when you open your eyes when consciously aware you have awoken, my guess is that its HI as your REM period slowly drifts away, you exit the state in which your imagination is active and things are being broken down into simple forms until they slowly disappear and you enter normal sleep or wake up. I've had it before however i do not know if what i said is entirely true, i could be wrong so don't take my word for it!

Is this something that only happens, with that particular shape, and happened often? If so, I can't really explain the significance of the shape, itself.

As far as seeing things, even after you've woken up: I've had a few dreams where either the sights or sounds of the dream will continue, even after I've woken up. It's like our individual senses can tune in to waking life, at different times, so that, even after you've opened your eyes to the waking world, you can still hear the sounds from the dream you were just having or, after waking up, physically, you are still experiencing the visuals from the dream.

      It happens.
