      Sleep Paralysis!

I didn't know where to post this, but I'm so excited that I had my first sleep paralysis!

Ok, so, it was about 4:00 am... I was playing Solitaire on my Ipod nano and was feeling sort of drowsy (I just woke up about 20 minutes earlier after going to bed at 8:30 pm the previous day and was attempting to WILD).
Anyway, I was laying on my back in the supine position, and suddenly everything went dark. It felt like that moment when you are about to fall asleep and you jolt and wake up, except this time I jolted and got stuck in the dream state while awake...weird, right? Yeah, it turned out I was paralyzed. I quickly realized what was going on... and then it happened... the hallucinations!! It was great; I felt vibrations, pressure, heard footsteps and incomprehensible noises. Everything was black except for this light which I couldn't make out the source. Anyway, I sensed impending doom, it was awesome... impending doom, man!

Hopefully I can experience this again.

      Can anyone relate?

when i WILD i dont get sleep paralisis. but i have had it before. i woke up in sleep paralisis once and my dog came into my room and started licking my lips lol I couldnt really feel the wetness of his licking, but i could feel the pressure of his tounge. It was gross it took me like a whole minute just to get my arms moving enough to push him off me! lol

i've had sleep paralysis a couple of times. one time, my mom barged into my room yelling (in my dream) at the top of her lungs and i froze with intense fear and couldnt move. i hate it.

lol at the threadstarters name. i'm new to LD, but one thing i want to try is playing counter strike in a LD. that would be so cool.

I would have thought this was astral catalepsy, where your body sort of wakes up but your spirit isn't fully in your body. But you make it seem pleasant, whereas astral catalepsy is an incredibly distressing and frightening experience from what I understand. So yeah, I don't know what you had.

I had Sleep Paralysis the other day after thinking about it and attempting to do DEILD (I've only had Sleep Paralysis once before in my life which I can remember which involved me trying to open my eyes and get up but not being able to and feeling an alien presence. Wasn't that scary though surprisingly).

Anyway, the other night I woke-up after a dream and remembered to stay still as instructed for DEILD. I felt that I was about to go into sleep paralysis and then I did! Well I felt vibrations and heard people talking, but I can't remember what they were saying now. I also thought that my dog was in my room but couldn't see her. I tried to make it into a dream I think and may've succeeded, I don't know what happened, I think perhaps I just woke-up. Anyway, it was over pretty quick, but I was well chuffed with it, and I wasn't scared at all, I just said to myself "the dog's not really there, it's just sleep paralysis".

Anyway, congrats on your Sleep Paralysis! Hope you have many more!

I feel pretty ashamed as I just experienced SP a few hours ago and it didn't turn out so well...

Just a few hours before I typed this post I was lying in bed. I remember reading about a technique where you concentrate on controlling your breathing and focusing on the little random light patterns that form when your eyes are closed. I figured I would just try it seeing as I haven't had much luck with inducing a lucid dream anyways.

All I remember is that eventually my breathing became much tighter...like I was being squeezed and I had to breathe really hard to overcome it. Then....I heard this very loud screeching yell..though not really a scream..it sounded like unrecognizable words were just roaring from somewhere in my room. I remember opening my eyes for an instant and I perceived the source of the sound was my mirror (this was after I stopped hearing the sound, which didn't make sense). I couldn't move any part of my body at all and was extremely scared. Then I opened my eyes again and I see in my mirror this faint light in my pitch black room.

A few seconds later I am back in my bed, looking opposite from where I was looking in my "dream" (the mirror). However I swear I had to open my eyes twice, maybe it was some sort of split second false awakening.

I spent the 10 minutes shaking in my bed trying all sorts of reality checks. I couldn't handle what had happened and was literally scared out of my mind. It was the loud screeching yell that got me I believe. I calmed down pretty quickly afterward and was somewhat happy that I seemed to make progress. I couldn't bare to try going back to sleep ago as I didn't want to experience that again. So I got out of bed and looked around this forum for similar situations....lol.
      I never made a scene..
      They came to me....

These are the things that after reading, make my pray I never never never have to suffer having Sleep Paralysis. One of my friends however has a hobby of Sleep Paralysis and actually enjoys having it occur to her.

It was just so weird since the sound seemed like it was actually coming from somewhere in my room and not just something from my mind

I'm actually thinking of trying it again sometime. Though I may use a technique that doesn't including consciously entering SP haha

one experience i had with sleep paralysis i saw this shadowing figure walk really close to my face and was whispering or something and i was so scared, i started breathing really hard and i remember thinking to myself "wake up! wake up!". i was lucid, but at the time i didnt know what lucid dreaming even was.

all my experiences with sleep parlysis were terrible, i dont know why anyone would want to experience it. even if it wasnt particularly scary, i hate the feeling of not being able to move.
