When I was much younger, I'll loved killing myself in dreams. Strangely, it gave me this really warm and relaxing feeling, "like going home." Every time I got lucid and had a good opportunity to jump off of something, I'd leap right off. It was a strang addiction.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

to make this clear - no, no you will not die if you die in a dream. For one, there is no evidence to suggest this - at all. How do I know this? Because anyone who has died in a dream, well, they can't tell us what they are dreaming about?

Furthermore, there is a ton of evidence to the contrary. TONS of people have died in their dreams and live to tell the tale.

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

They haven't died in their dreams. If you die in real life you don't live to tell the tale. So someone who has died in their dream will be dead in real life. You here about people who die of no reason during sleep, they truly died in their dreams.

Ah, but there is evidence that dying in a dream will not kill you in real life. Plenty of people on this forum, myself included, have died in dreams, lucid or not. And I think there's plenty of evidence that all of us are still alive...

Really, I think the whole 'dying in dreams can kill you thing' is something that someone made up because they don't understand dreams. It has been disproven many times, and all it serves to do is scare peope off from the idea of dreaming.

The minds perception is that of death..

By calling this guts? Is this a noble act?
People whio have felt like this in their waking life don't feel gutsy.

I would just like to pick up a pistol, stick it to my temple, and blow my brains out...
just to see if I feel any like... transcending feeling of some sort...

It's a dream. It is what you preemptively think is going to happen It's in your head (not the bullet) The perception of what you are going to feel.

Haha, yeah, I'd love to kill myself in a dream. Stick a gun up my mouth and pull the trigger. Dunno why, I'd just like to try that in a lucid.

I've done it tons of times, everything from burning my self alive, to jumping of from a skyscraper.

oh and sometimes I'd even allow zombies to eat me alive, no kidding.

Well, I think I have a pretty vivid imagination, so I'd like to see what my subconscious thinks death is like. And hell, if you believe in true OBEs and dream-sharing or other metaphysical things, maybe there would be some truth to what you come up with when dying in a dream.

      I know right?!
I'd love to just go ahead and do it, but I rarely get LDs so when I get one I like to take advantage in doing things that won't end the dream.

back when i was younger, i used to commit suicide in dreams all the time...not for fun, or for a desire to experiment, but because it was the only surefire way to wake myself up. i did it in nightmares especially - just jump off a cliff or something to that effect.

Before I realized you could control dreams, I would occasionally become lucid in my dreams and get myself to wake up...why, I do not know. All I had to do (and still do in some nightmares today, when I don't bother to do a R.C.), is to just jolt my head forward and that gets me up instantly...

I have been shot before in dreams, but never done it myself. And i'll tell you what, when you are shot in a non-lucid dream and you wake up, it is such a great feeling knowing that you are alive.
Finnaly someone understands me! Thats what happeneds to me! i killed someone a little girl by accedent i was sobbing scared then i woke up for 1 second or so and realised it never happened

[quote=wendylove;441631]absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Err, was this supposed to be a legitimate counterpoint? I never said that the fact there there is no evidence means that that is evidence it doesn't exist. Clearly it doesn't. But if you really use that philosophy for belief in everything... well, let me give you an example.

I have a purple invisible mole that lives 10 miles underneath my room. There is no evidence to suggest that this is NOT true. But does this make it untrue? Of course not. But the fact that there is no evidence for it makes it very, very silly and pointless to believe that it IS true.

They haven't died in their dreams. If you die in real life you don't live to tell the tale. So someone who has died in their dream will be dead in real life. You here about people who die of no reason during sleep, they truly died in their dreams.
What? I have said that people have died in their dreams. Is english your first language? Because it seems like you are saying people do indeed die while dreaming... which I agree with... But as I said, there are countless anecdotes of people saying that they died in their dreams (note: not WHILE dreaming), yet live to tell the tale.

I once unloaded 6 bullets into my face to avoid being stepped on my a giant robot [who looked like Optimus Prime] I didn't die though, I woke up with a headache. That was no good, haha.

I killed myself one time, but it was more a forced awakening than suicide, to prove to my father that I was dreaming.
I told him to watch my corpse/body and tell me what happened,. when I re-entered the dream he was gone and so was my corpse.
Been meaning to try that again with more witnesses.
