      Chris angel..lucid dream theory

Now Im totally bored at work and this idea came to me. I know really squat about Chris angel or lucid dreaming but This occured to me..

There was an episode I saw where Chris angel went to the hospital and he was able to slow down and stop his pulse at different spots in his body.

Now I was wondering with much practice can you induce lucid dreaming at any given moment?

And lets say your running in your Lucid dream...will your heart beat increase in your real life body?

Because my friend and I thought that maybe thats how Chris angel was able to accomplish that act.

He got to the hospital, layed down, had nurses at each pressure point feeling his pulse, he went into a lucid dream in which he could have the power to stop his pulse at each point, his real life body showed this..then he simply woke up?

      Possible? :p

I dont really know, but it does make perfect sence. As sometimes people do wake up from nightmares with their hearts pouding

I'm a Chris Angel fan, and I remember that episode.

Chris is an incredible athelete and has pretty good control over his body in general. However, given the nature of the show, we have to remember that this feat was likely a trick and not actually what it appeared to be. He tells us in his introduction that much of what he does is trickery and some of it actual feats, and it's up to us to figure out which is which.

Being an ex-magician, I do know how he does some of his tricks, and I've also noticed giveaway glitches on two occassions in his show. Some of his illusions impress the hell out of me and I'll probably never know how he does them.

The pulse-stop trick I assume was an illusion and not mind over body. I could be wrong, but it sure smacked of illusion to me.

Afaik you breath the same way as you do in reality, that's why the nose RC works...
But it's not necessary to lucid dream to accomplish that, I can slow my pulse down to around 50 or 60 consciously

I do think it's possible to `learn' lucid dreaming to a degree that you can induce one whenever you want, but I wouldn't know how lol

Chris Angel never refers to his stunts as anything other than a "performance". He's always very clear to make that distinction.

And those nurses inspecting him hardly seemed very professional.

No, this is not 'mind over matter' here. He sticks a rubber ball in his armpit and squeezes off the major artery there, which pumps blood to the places where the pulses are taken. Think blood pressure tests. They squeeze off your artery temporarily. Now, if he stopped his heart that would be another thing But no, this does not have anything to do with his 'concentration' and abilities.
