      I can't stop feeling physically.

So I've been trying to LD or even SP for a while now and I have had marginal success, enough to convince me I'm not a lost cause

My main problem however is that when I lie flat on my back [I'm told the best position for both LD and SP] and close my eyes I can't stop feeling my covers physically on me and my bed, I repeatedly try to lift a new set of arms from my body but always realise i can feel the sheets and I start itching uncontrollably completely breaking my concentration

I can never seem to get further than this, so how do you guys handle the transition between being able to feel your body, and then not, whats it like? whats my best bet for getting there?

Are you asking what WILD is like?

If sleeping on your back is so uncomfortable, then don't. Yeah it's generally agreed that sleeping on your back is the best position (for WILD specifically), but that doesn't mean you can't find another position that's equally as effective. For instance, I recently had two LDs in one night and when I woke up I was curled up on my side. So it's definitely possible, don't be discouraged.

If you are going to do WILD get in the position that you fall asleep in or find yourself to most comfortable, laying on the back is merely a suggestion and is not necessary. As for having LD's and such and saying that you have better LD's on your back this is a myth at best.

I always sleep on my side or stomach and have LD's every single night so I think it is safe to say that the position in which you sleep has nothing to do with the quality of your LD's as it varies from person to person.

I'm pretty sure I almost fully entered SP on an afternoon nap the other day. I didn't have any covers on me and was laying on my back. There is just a point where I think you can't mistake when you're entering SP. I felt myself "slip" and I felt like was spinning/falling. I couldn't feel my body at all either. The bad part though was that right when that happened I got really excited. I could feel my hard start to RACE and I woke up up and tried to slow my breathing
      LD Count: 8
      DILDS: 3
      WILDS: 5

Current Goals: Try dream drugs. Perform a FILD at this hotel i'm staying at..

I agree with what the others have said. Personally, I almost always lie on my back when I'm do relaxation but, I always sleep on my side, which is when the LDing occurs.

So, in short, do your WILD in the same position you'd sleep in. After all, the objective is to fall alseep.

thanks everyone, I'l try it tonight

I think am gonna have a go at a straight out WILD and then if that[most likely] fails] wake up at like 5 and have a bit of a WBTB-rave.

Hmm, what you just said gives me the impression that you're trying to WILD at the beginning of the night. If so then you're already stacking the deck against yourself. Try WBTB and WILD at the same time. You'll have much better luck than if you try WILD when you first go to bed.

      I know!

But as I see it I shouldn't waste this going to sleep I'm about to do for the first time.. I may as well try, but my alarm is sset so I will WBTB-WILD anyway, it's just a little bit of practice before properly doing it once I WBTB!

Ok. I mentioned all of that because that's probably why you're having the itching problem. When you're doing WILD as a conclusion to WBTB, you shouldn't have that problem. Unless your timing is just bad, as far as WBTBing at the ideal time.

Well for me i have been suffering from sp for quiet some time, this only seemed to happen when i was lying on my back, after i found out about this site i started lying on my side, i still get SP but its only when im trying to wild now, its just a matter of where you feel comfortable enough to fall asleep. As for the itching i usually just itch, seems to me that concentrating too much on the itching impeeds my wild attempt badly and i cant even get back to sleep then :< Oh forgot to mention ive never done a WBTB before, im far to lazy for that but i have had many succesful wild, i just dont see no HI or even feel myself being pulled into a dream, just hear insane noises once or twice ive had scary hallucinations/being choked , but its always before i go to bed.
