      Question First LD! But Dangerous?

      Hey!

I had my first lucid with a DILD! IT WAS AMAZING! I flew around my hometown and talked to people i've never met before.

But later in my dream I was attacked by an crazy old man with a wooden spear, he stabed me in the leg and I woke myself up.

When I woke up I realized i had three big scratch marks on my chest that were really sore. They are too narrow to be my fingernails, so I was wondering.

      Can dream's physically hurt you?

Congrats on your first LD!!! Must have been really exciting for you! I know I woke right up when I first knew I was having an LD, I think it's really cool that you didn't wake right up from the excitement! I've never heard of being physically hurt from having a dream, but then again I've never heard that you can't. I'll definitely check back again to see what others have said about it! Keep up the good work on the LDs!!!

I highly highly highly doubt you can actually be physically hurt, I mean, it's all in the mind, right? I guess you could always trick your mind into thinking that you still feel the pain after being awoken but I don't see how there could be physical evidence.

I mysteriously get weird scratches and stuff all the time! It's kind of annoying actually.

Congrats on the LD, but no, I'm 99% sure that nothing in the Dream world can hurt you in the real world. Besides, if the old man stabbed you in the leg, then surely your scratchmarks would be there.

      It's all in your head.

Do you have a dog with large claws that likes sleeping on you by any chance?

Rather a cat. You have a cat?

Dreams cannot do physical harm to you. It is just not possible.

Thats what I was thinking too, but I didn't want to sound close-minded. I know some people believe in more supernatural things than I do...

Edit: But now does that make me naive to think that you could get hurt?

They're (dreams are) occuring in your own head... so, no they cannot... I had something like that before, and it was because scratches/wounds I had only started getting inflamed while I was asleep..

So no, no physical harm can come to you during a dream unless of course SP malfunctions and you wind up on the floor, but that's very unlikely.

That's not to say that you won't feel physical pain in dreams...this can certainly happen and often does...only recently did I start to notice my tactile sense in dreams, and it's not always pleasent...maybe this sensation lasted into the waking state for you, or you had some very real scratches from before that only started hurting once you were asleep...

Anyway, the rest of your LD sounded fantastic, well done on all that,

and I hope you have more pleasant, painless LD's.
