      Lucid During a Nap?

I was talking to a guy about two years ago who said he experienced most of his lucid dreams in mid day naps... not only did I question as to how he could reach REM sleep, but also as to whether or not he was as lazy as I thought he was! lol who can nap everyday?!

ANYWAY, the question is: Does attempting to ld during a nap increase your chances of lucidity? Or is it even possible?

My logic points to it being easier because you are going straight from consciousness to sleep but I'm not quite sure if that is backed up in any way... just a hypothesis I guess...

      Help?

It is possible. But no different from a WILD, if he goes from waking-dream directly.

What time of day do you take your naps? Or does it not make a difference?

I don't know when, and I doubt it makes much difference.
I asked Jonesn (He's a polysomnologist (sleep technologist)) about REM in naps. Maby you'll be interested.

Q:About naps, is it true that you skip all the sleep stages and go directly to REM? Or is this just a mistake made by associating REM with dreams, which can also happen douring non-REM sleep (right?).

A:If you're taking a real nap, as in you have already slept a normal period of time prior to that nap, then your body/mind does not require you to run through the traditional sleep architecture wherein you must have Stage 2 and Delta sleep prior to REM.

Think about when you sleep in on a Sunday or whenever and you get more than 8 hours of sleep. Past that time you can really only have Stage 1 (very light sleep) or REM, though these dreams usually don't last as long or as stable as those you would have during REM-5 (the last 90min of a regular sleep cycle).

Becoming Lucid during a nap is what lucid research suggest will probably yield you the best results, in mid-day, or morning...trying to go lucid at night without any sleep prior to your attempt is like trying to run a 4 flat with 5 inch platform shoes. In other worlds...it's possible to LD at night but the "difficulty" factor is raised exponentially.
