Repetative thought of the scenario through the day makes up for the couple of times a night you do it.
I set my Saltcube timer for 30 mins on my PC during the day and play the scenario through my head for 30 secs or so.
Imagine how much this speeds up the mental memory of the scene when you are ready to do it and also the ease of picturing it when you are half asleep.

      That's a great idea DreamChaser.

The more a person imagines something during the day, the easier it is going to be for them to imagine it when they are half asleep, and the easier it is going to be to become lucid while imagining it.

This idea of yours is similar to doing reality checks, only much better.

A person could either do this everytime a timer goes off like you are doing, or just do it whenever they would normally do a reality check, such as whenever they enter a room or change locations.

What are these breaks exactly like? I always wake up in between my dreams (about three or four times a night) and I write them down in my journal.

Are these REM breaks exactly that, or no?

To my knowledege these breaks are in between REM stages.
You then prep. yourself with the dream scenario for the next REM session,
or for a wbtb or something keep awake for a large chunk of the next REM and get back to bed in prep. for the following REM session.
      Does that make sense?

      iadr:
Thanks and you can do it as a eye-open quick daydream of the scene, as long as it enters yur mind through the day.
Remember how we have a dream of something so small we glanced at during the day that we never took notice of? Well imagine puting your dream scene in your memory 10 times a day. Imagine how much easier it would be to dream it.

This is a great technique Westonci, and you did a great job of explaining all of the steps.

I tried this several times last night as I woke up several times from my dreams, and had a short lucid dream the first time I tried it, with all of the other times resulting in vivid dreams.

When I began visualizing myself jogging down a road that I jog on with my dog almost every day I found myself suddenly being only about 1 foot tall, but very stocky.

I encountered several dream characters who I tried to convince that I was dreaming, but forgot what most of them were.

The one I remember though was a grasshopper that I was trying to convince that I was dreaming by making it rain, and then making the sun come out.

Great technique. Thanks again for sharing it.

Yeah it does. I'm just wondering where these breaks are exactly. If these are the times that I wake up immediately following my dream then I am set. Otherwise I'm not sure.

Pretty much. They are meant to be in roughly 90 min cycles and text books say to stay up in a wbtb for 60-90 mins (ie a REM cycle) to continue into the next REM.
But we are all different and some can't go back to sleep after that long and need to greatly reduce the awake time.
Best thing I have found is watch when you wake through the night and jot down the times.
Do this over a few nights (when doing your dream journal jot it next to the dream) and you will start to get an idea of your REM time cycle.
A good starting point is set you alarm for 4.30am and see what happens.
      Hope that helps.

I used to too. I started setting my mobile on vibrate in my sock, for 4.30am, 6am and 7.30am. This was great for wbtb, VILDs and WILD attempts.
Once my phone was out of battery and I realised i was waking at these times automatically. So cool. Repetiton is so fun.

Sounds like a VILD to me. I've never tried it before, so I'll give it a shot tonight.
