"Dream Time" Could be Faster than Real Time

Yeah, I know this argument has been done to death on these boards (I was actually a part of another thread on the subject some time ago), but I saw this article on the Scientific American website and thought I should share. Enjoy!

BTW, If anyone knows how to make it so I can change the link to look how I want (i.e. Link instead of the address), let me know please.

That's pretty interesting, I was just thinking about dream time and real time yesterday.

Oh, and to make the link like you want it (take the stars out)[*URL="http://www.address.com"]Put the text you want here[/URL*]

Perhaps you could have a lucid and just stand there counting and then when you wake up see if the same amount of time has past. The problem with this is that you would have to know what time you became lucid.

Studies have show that dream time is aproximately equal to real time.

Perception of time while lucid dreaming

The rate that time passes while lucid dreaming has been shown to be about the same as while waking. In 1985 LaBerge performed a pilot study where lucid dreamers counted from one to ten (one-one thousand, two-one thousand, etc.) while dreaming, signaling the end of counting with a pre-arranged eye signal measured with Electrooculogram recording. LaBerge's results were confirmed by German researchers in 2004. The German study, by Erlacher, D. & Schredl, M also studied motor activity and found that deep knee bends took 44% longer to perform while lucid dreaming.

@ Spartiate: Maybe that's just when you're concentrating on it.

Anyway, I don't want to make this a big deal, I just thought it was an interesting article.
