Have you ever felt like "melting" through your bed??

I haven't got the complete LD experience......... yet, but I've felt SP and the waves of vibrations and everything but it's really hard to just not pay attention to it!! Last night I started feeling that odd sensation but I kept distracting myself by thinking like "wow I can't feel my hands is like I don't have them anymore" or "wow I know I'm breeding but it's like it's on autopilot"

And THEN I felt like I was plunging down through my bed really fast and this was very heavy! it happened a couple of times but it wakened me, the feeling is quiet the strangest thing, isn't it? It's very intrusive! you just know you're not in control anymore

Also, do anyone feel it's easier to WILD while laying facing upwards? I have to do it like that and with my hands interlocked in my chest, if I change to my normal sleeping position I just fall asleep too quickly.. I'll try again tonight

Welcome to Dreamviews! Nice avatar. xD

It's exciting to feel sleep paralysis, but if you become too involved with it, it does tend to awaken. You've got to pretend that it's not really happening, or better yet ignore it altogether. The transition into the dream is different from everyone. For me, it feels like some electric fluid has escaped from my neck and pulsating through my body. I either wake up in my real bed, or in my dream bed. Always reality check!

I suggest sleeping in your normal sleeping position. Comfort is key. If you find yourself drifting off to sleep to early, try increasing wake-back-to-bed (WBTB) length... You do use WBTB before a WILD, right? Because it's very hard for most people to do at the beginning of the night (also, your actual dream time is short at the beginning!). Sleep how you sleep normally, but increase waking time during WBTB. If that doesn't work, and you're still drifting too soon, then you should try altering sleep position.

"wow I know I'm breeding but it's like it's on autopilot"
      Freudian slip, much? Kidding. xD

      thanks! I haven't realized I typed that

      I did used WBTB but didn't go out of bed (I know, I'm lazy u_u) so I felt more "in control" when first time sleeping;

and about the plunging... perhaps I had a very subtle case of OBE ???

I have kind of felt what you described, but instead of melting through the bed I felt sunken in it and like my body had become flat, like paper. It is an interesting feeling, one that confused me the first time.

      Definitely not.

You will experience many bizarre sensations that you have never felt before, and see really crazy things that you've never seen before while attempting to WILD. People were not meant to stay conscious as they are falling asleep...but it is one hell of a ride, and I just love it. Some people can't handle it, all those weird sensations and such scare them. And some people jump to the conclusion that just because they are experiencing weird stuff that they are having an OBE, heh. That's definitely not the case though.

All you are experiencing is sleep paralysis, which includes the weird body sensations, the intense vibrations, detatched limbs, sinking into your bed, etc. ...and when these sensations combine with HI, you can get some pretty crazy stuff. Most of the time when I reach the HI stage, I've left behind bodily sensations and have entered full SP, but the times when they overlap, you will be having hypnogogic hallucinations during SP which can make you hallucinate all sorts of things. For example, I've been laying there and during SP hallucinated that my bed was violently jumping up and down. Another time, I hallucinated that "someone" crawled into bed with me...and spoke to me...which freaked me out, but when I opened my eyes there was no one there. So be ready for anything. And no...you are not having an OBE.

Also...a few tips on WILDing position that I find extremely useful...you may as well.
1)do NOT try to WILD in your normal sleeping position, you'll just fall asleep, I too find it best to lay straight on my back
      2) keep your arms and legs straight, when you enter SP your joints will start to ache, and anywhere that your body is bent, you will experience an aching here which just makes you more aware of the SP
      3) again, arms straight at your sides...another reason for this besides the aching joints is because during SP you will experience really weird sensations that your arms are disconnected, or laying in odd ways...for example...like you I used to lay with my arms folded on my chest, but then I would have weird sensations that one hand was on top of the other or grasping the other, when I was pretty sure that they were never even touching when I layed them on my chest (which they weren't), so I find that if I know for sure that my arms are at my sides, I don't have to worry about weird limb sensations...another reason...is to keep things off your chest, next point
      4) make sure there is nothing on your chest, especially your hands, and even your blanket, when you enter SP, and sometimes even when you are LDing your breathing will become extremely heavy as you are more aware of it, I've found that even a soft thin blanket will feel like a ton of bricks on my chest, yeah it's a mental thing, but it helps to have nothing on your chest

that's all I can think of for now...

Thanks for all the info Aquanina!

Yes, what I felt it's better described as "sinking in", and I've read about it and it's apparently a common experience

What you said about the hands it's true! it's very weird feeling them on the chest when in SP, that alien feeling on the limbs and disconnectedness with the body keeps me from relaxing totally, I'll just lay with arms aside next time

When I'm very tired I can get a shaking and plunging feeling, especially if lying on my back.

      Glad I could help!

And yes...it can be extremely bizarre with the disconnected limbs, and your mind is really good at trying to play tricks on you. I hate laying there wondering WHY I would try to WILD with my hands linked together and placed on my stomach, or even, lol, with my hands placed under my butt so that I'm laying on them. Then I spend the next few minutes trying to remember exactly how I placed my hands, and wondering if it's my mind playing a trick on me. But now I don't have to worry about that because I know without a doubt that my arms are at my sides no matter how much my brain is trying to play tricks on me.

Ah! Thanks Aquanina! Attempting my first WBTB WILD a couple of nights ago failed because my left ankle was aching badly Besides that I was itchy and couldn't concentrate.
And I usually have my arms clasped on my stomache. I've never entered full SP, either.
      Thanks for the advice.

My pleasure. Years of trial and error heh heh. I'm a natural WILDer...meaning most of my WILDs are unintentional. I'll experience them when I am napping during the day, or if I wake up at just the right moment in my sleep cycle at night, so that when I close my eyes again, I'll go straight into the vibrational stage. And even though I'm a "natural" WILDer, I still have one hell of a time trying to WILD intentionally! It definitely isn't easy, even after all these years, so I definitely sympathize with those trying to learn how to do it!
