      Talking I Did It! :D

This is my first message on Dreamviews so first of all... hi everybody.
I'm 23 years old guy from Slovenia, EU. I study electrotechnic science.
I found about lucid dreaming and Dreamviews a year ago when i typed "dream control" into google.
Soo... I have read a lot of material on this forum in the past. I just haven't had the time to realy try to have LD. Until now. Impressed by my first lucid dreams I decided to join the Dreamviews community and share my experiences. Here goes...

Yesterday I went to bed and woke up at 6am. I went to toilet and than back to bed. I tried to WILD but i fell asleep. I had normal dreams and suddenly realized that I'm dreaming. I did the nose RC and it worked. I followed my primary plan for first LDs and tried to find my dream guide. I pictured a door and "decided" that behind that door my dream guide will be. Well... it kind of was... it was my mother (lol). I asked her, what is the magic word I must say when I go to bed that will cause me to have lucid dreams. She told me, that there is no such word and that only hard work will get me there. I was satisfied and went away to enjoy my lucidity. I tried to shoot with my hand, but it didn't work. My mother told me that i am not ready yet for this and showed me her skils. She shot a Star Wars like laser-bullet from her finger. Than i found a water pistol and poured in some water. I shot at the building 300 feet away and caused an incredible explosion. My lucidity than started to fade away. I can just remember that at one moment i looked at the dreamworld and was impressed by how realistic it looks and also that i shot a devastating energyshock from a small candle in my hand. I could feel the hot wax on my hand. The feeling was very realistic. I could probably remember a lot more but i just haven't had the time to write my LDs in my DJ after i woke up. What a terrible thing to do, isn't it? But i simply had no time avaliable!

Anyway, i have a few questions.

      1. Could it be that my dream guide is my mother? I mean... it's kind of annoying. I expected an old guy with a long beard.

      2. Is it possible through DILD to achieve 90%-100% lucidity? Mine was kind of 60%-70% lucidity.

      3. Do you have to constantly remind yourself that you are dreaming? It seems to me that it's hard to stay lucid. Does in time becomes easier to become and stay lucid?

      (4. There really is no magic word? )

Thank you. Have fun and LDs
      Take it easy.

      1. If there is such thing as a dream guide (which is debatable) it could have showed itself in the form of your mother. I very much doubt that it would be your mother.

      2. Yes.

      3. As you become more experienced with lucid dreaming it will become easier but as a beginner you may have to keep reminding yourself.

      4. Not that i know of. If there is i'll definitely have to find that out.

Smile, congratulations on your lucid dream and welcome to Dream Views!

      1. Could it be that my dream guide is my mother? I mean... it's kind of annoying. I expected an old guy with a long beard.

Dream guides present themselves in ways that would be "non-threatening" to the dreamer.. and possibly for you, what was more non-threatening than your mother?

      2. Is it possible through DILD to achieve 90%-100% lucidity? Mine was kind of 60%-70% lucidity.

With lucid dreaming anything is possible. For all those new to lucid dreaming, I advise that you don't try to set the lucid world on fire your first few dreams.. don't try to do tricks, summon people, etc. Simply go with the flow and take it all in. Get used to what being lucid FEELS like so you can ground yourself in your dreams.. that's when the tricks/stunts can happen.

Your first few dreams simply act like a tourist in a new place.. go sightseeing and take in all the different colors and sounds. You may try to increase your vividness by confidently stating aloud "increase lucidity" or "clarity now" but that would be the extent of control I would recommend for struggling dreamers.

I know when I first become lucid, I have to fight that initial rush of adrenalin. I do this by telling myself to calm down, breathing naturally (or a little slower) and I try to "ground" myself in the dream (i.e., make it as lucid as it can be) instead of immediately racing to do something before I lose lucidity.

One of the tricks I use to "ground" myself is to "touch" things. By touching.. I mean really "feeling" them. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc. (this also increases the vividness of the dream along with helping me remain in it longer).

Also, there is no "try" when you're lucid.. only "do". You must KNOW that there is nothing you can't have nor perform while in your dream.

Just remember that "the deeper the level of lucidity.. the better your lucid experience should be".

      3. Do you have to constantly remind yourself that you are dreaming? It seems to me that it's hard to stay lucid. Does in time becomes easier to become and stay lucid?

Some do.. other's don't have to once they've gotten experienced in lucid dreaming. Some state occasionally to themselves that "I am dreaming" while others perform periodic "reality checks". But it usually does become easier with experience to become and stay lucid.

      (4. There really is no magic word? )

Dang.. I kinda wish there were.

Thanks for answers. I will repeat yesterdays routine tonight and post my results.

I forgot to explain you about the magick word trick.
What i really wanted with that magic word is that my dream guide would tould tell me a random word which would hopefuly have a placebo effect on my mind and therefore induce lucid dreams. Guess i was wrong

      1. Your dream guide is, technically speaking, yourself - every dream character is an aspect of who you are. In theory, your dream guide could probably take a number of different forms. Sometimes, though, I think that my dream characters are somehow real, and that I'm sharing the dream with them, even though I don't believe in that kind of thing IRL.

      2. It's possible, but IME harder than with WILDs. Although, dreams had later in the morning, or triggered by sexual themes, might be a little easier.

      3. I find it hard to remain lucid too. When I achieve lucidity and want to maintain it, usually the best way to do so is to keep doing "dream things" like flying, and also to remind myself occasionally or to announce to the dream world that I'm still dreaming. I might want to try Clarity's trick of touching things in dreams to ground myself, though, 'cause I'm not happy with my level of dream control. Last time I was lucid, I couldn't make myself fly through the Milky Way or summon a boy from a previous dream. I don't think I've ever had full dream control.

      4. I think the reason why there's no magic word is that sometimes you just have bad brain days and dippy moments in dreams just like in real life (except more so - most dreams are mostly dippy for most people, hence all of us trying to learn how to be aware of our dream states). If you're in a very dull state of dream consciousness, something that should induce lucidity or remind you to do a reality check can be right in your face and you'll just think nothing of it.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.
