      Question Following Commands

I've had only a few lucid dreams, but I have noticed something interesting and I was wondering how this worked for everyone else. When you want to do something in the dream you can't do in real life, how do you do it? I mean do you speak what you want to do or do you think it or have some other way?

I ask this because when I want to do something I think of a mental command. I just think it. And the fascinating part is this. I don't have to give specific commands. That is, when I mentally give a command, its usually a very vague one, but the dream will fill in all the details. And I mean all of them. If I asked for a city, I don't have to concentrate on what every single building looks like, or what the streets are like or in what country, the dream fills all of these little things in.

I was curious if this was the same way for everyone else.

All i really need to do is expect it to happen. I presume this would be the same for most people, seeing as it is our own minds that create the dream. I usually do use a verbal command though anyway, which does the trick straight away.

It's the same way for me. Sometimes, if I want to levitate something, I'll have to point to help my mind.

However, sometimes, when I've decided to dream about a house/apartment, I'll have to "plan" it in my mind before it materialises in my dream. It can be hard work, but if I don't, I'll end up in an almost empty room/house, or someplace completely different and random.

      Yeah , what chris said.

I'd also add, that it is "harder" to "will" something into existence (e.g. opening a portal in thin air with your hands), rather than to just expect it to happen. Though if expecting something too strongly, you might get lost among the expectation and lose lucidity.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

You just expect it? Hmmm, never actually tried that, I've always willed something to happen. Of course this would explain why stray thoughts in these lucid dreams translate into a change in the dream. I'm expecting something and it happens. Huh. I never knew to do that.
