Thread: Losing Control (Question)

First time poster here, however I am not new to the concept of lucid dreaming. Ever since I can remember when I was very youngI would have lucid dreams on the occasion. Although I wasn't really aware what they were, I just thought they were cool. Eventually when I decided to learn more about them and read about them I found Lucid dreaming became alot more common in my life.

in 2005 it got to the point where I could pretty much lay down for bed and think, alright I want to LD tonight. and I would sometimes even twice a night. It was a very exciting time.

Untill one night when I was exploring the neighborhood I was in during my LD I came across a girl. The weird part was I vividly remembered her from a dream I had a year prior. That dream was not a lucid one, just a normal, but vivid dream. Anyways When I realized the familiarity I asked her about it and she ran away.

It was just a dream so I didn't really let it get to me and just assumed my mind pulled her out of my memory of the last dream. However on another night of lucid dreaming I decided to ask some random strangers about the girl. But as soon as I did weird things would happen, reality would become distorted then I would forget I was lucid dreaming. and then on nights afterwards it seemed while I would try to gain control, things I used to be able to do, (simple things like opening locked doors by simply turning the handle.) I wasn't able to do anymore, i'd try but it wouldn't work. I was also very good at flying, but that began to falter too, and I could now only remain air born for a few seconds. and every time I tried to persue the questions, I would lose control again.

Now, 2 years later I am just beginning to have lucid dreams again, however they are short and rather hard to hold onto, when back then i used to have such control.

is this just a random thing? Have any of you lost the ability to LD ever? and was pursueing the random girl I remembered from a previous dream, at any possible chance connected to any of this.

its a rather broad question and kind of strange, but I'd love to hear oppinions or tips
