      A few questions on LD'ing:)

Ok, I'm going to try DILD's I've got my dream journal, and I'm doing RC's

      But some questions:

      1. What is "pain" in Lucid dreams? Is there any? I want to be able to jump off things haha

      2. How long do you think (if I keep dream journaling) til I get my first LD?

      3. Nothing yet, but I'm gonna think of something

I've searched for these before posting, but for some reason the phrases I search, it only searches words

      DILD(s) = 3

Third one was really short and unstable

      Welcome!

Pain in dreams is more of a tingle or a numb feeling. Have you ever heard "Pinch me I'm dreaming!" well it usually doesn't work because we often feel a numbness or a tingle and interpret that as pain. Sometimes instead of pain I feel a really high vibration of my body...usually after a car crash or falling into something solid.

How long till your first one? It could be a day or years. It really depends on so many factors that its hard to say. Even after you get your first one it might only last a second because you'll be so excited that you'll wake up and you might not get another one for a few weeks, months or years. I think it all depends on how much you put into it. Who knows, you might have one tonight that lasts a long time and then continue every night for the rest of your life.

      good luck!

yeah, don't worry about pain in dreams. Ive felt pain in a lucid dream once. I was tangled in barbed wire. it felt weird, kind of like electricity, but it didnt bother much at all. and yes, you can jump off stuff. Ive lept from sky scrapers. landed fine.

how long depends on a lot of things like lucidbuddha said. generally, not too long. bank on a month, maybe. took 2 weeks I think before I had my first.

      welcome to the forums.

Hey Rookybeats..thought I'd give you my own answers...

      1) if you think something is going to hurt...it will! I've dived through glass and felt nothing, because I knew i was just going to go straight through. Basically...the pain feels how you think it feels and will only hurt if you think it will!

      2) Dream Journalling IS CRITICAL to remembering your dreams. But you must be using some form of reality checking too, otherwise you will have no lucid dreams to remember!

as for how long; it varies from person to person. However to increasew your chances you should

-Keep a Dream Journal (as you are)
-get between 7-8 hours sleep a night
-Frequently observe reality and test it
-keep a regular sleep pattern (ie. a constant bedtime)
-Think about dreaming during the day

If you do these things then you are well set up...and then its just a matter of persistance. Keep your reality checks focussed and observe!

(i would say you could try an aditional induction method...but before trying what us dreamers call "Wake Back To Bed" WBTB techniques YOU MUST develop good reality checking habits or you risk failing every time)

      Goodluck!
