      Realized why I can't WILD/tried FILD

I realized that I couldn't WILD because I wasn't sleeping before trying it! DUH!

Also, I tried the FILD technique (and slept about 4 hours before trying it). So when I woke up, I started to barely move my fingers like I was instructed to, and I immediately began to feel myself being pulled backwards out of my body and into the couch I was sleeping on. The black and the colors faded into white and then I woke up. Turns out, I'm STILL working on my recall, so after the whiteness, I can't remember my dream. However, it's still really cool to know that I entered the dream on my own.

Congrats. A FILD is a subcategory of WILD, you can WILD when you go first go to bed, but dream memory is overwritten so the odds of remembering the lucid then are close to zero. That being pulled feelings is sleep paralysis, it's fun, don't be scared if it hurts a little too though. I find it different every time i try it.

Yeah, a lot of people seem to be confused about that. I wonder, does it mention anything about having to sleep first in the WILD tutorials?

It probably depends upon who wrote the tutorial.

only once did i even get to the vibrations when i tried WILD when i first went to sleep. I know lots of the tutorials suggest sleeping first. I havent heard of anyone who could WILD when first going to sleep.

Some people can do it, but they say its harder and the lucids aren't as vivid.

My one successful WILD was when first going to sleep. Needless to say, it took FOREVER -- i had to wait for slow-wave sleep to end and me to enter into REM. Every other time i've just been distracted.

The reason it's hard is cause with your body asleep and your mind awake, you get really impatient waiting about an hour for you to start HI. If you wake up (about 4 hours, which is most likely during a REM period) early and fall back asleep, you're highly likely to fall right back into REM.

Yeah, it's not necessary for a tiny minority maybe.
