      Odd feeling?

soemtimes, very rarely, when I'm laying on my back not really asleep just laying there with my eyes open it feels like the bed is falling out from under me...It happens very quickly...I usually jerk up because It's very sudden and I was wondering if this is something that has happened to someone else? Also what it could be..o.o

Astral projection maybe? Give more details...How relaxed were you, what were you concentrating on, etc...
In this crazy world if they don't consider you mad, then you have no confirmation of your own sanity, do you?
Imagine if this crazy world thought you were sane?! Oh my God, worst nightmare!

I often have a similar feeling, where I begin to feel like I'm spinning and falling into the bed.
In fact I get this almost every night.

Apparently its related to HI and falling asleep.
There are claims on these kind of sensations being related to OOBE and Astral Projection... I make no judgment on that

happened to me a couple times in high school when i fell asleep in class, id just about be in a dream but then jerk up cuz it felt like i was fallin and everyone would kinda look at me funny. i actually was dreaming once, i dreamt i was playin ball and i went up and did a jordan style dunk, and as i came down i fell hard and i jerked my head off my desk real fast and looked around wide eyed. i heard what causes it is that your neurons just misfire and it kinda jolts you.

      Its the start of wild

Try and keep yourslef relaxed, let it happen and let us know what you feel afterwards =D the most important part is to try and stay relaxed.

The falling sensation could also be the lack of proprioception that incidentally occurs during the transition to and from slow wave sleep.

Also could be being conscious of the rise and fall of neurotransmitters involved in proprioception during these transitions..

Or astral travel.. and the feeling of coming back into your body, although this is usually referred to as astral catalepsy which is the re-actualization of forming into your body, etc.

I'll have to make a thread about Astral Catalepsy..

      My experiences

Normally for me when that happens I'm going to bed and my mind wanders and it seems like I'm going to touch something hot or someone is going to grab my leg or some other thing that I'm "afraid of happening."

One time, though (this was really cool for me in a way), I was in my band class in 10th grade and we had a guy come in and we were going to do a concert with him. He was teaching us about visualization and he was having us visualize that our thumb and forefinger were this unbreakable metal ring. Anyway, it was like hypnosis. He was taking us down mentally (he had one of those hypnotic voices) and when I started to relax it felt like I was falling down into my chair. Unfortunately I jerked and came more awake. That just kind of ruined the session or I would have probably had done it properly rather than just using more of my will than anything else. Grr...

I didn't know that it was the beginning of WILD! I'll have to see if I can make a tape recording to bring myself down....is that possible?

Yes, you can make a tape recording. However, I find it much easier to take myself through it mentally.
