How long to write down your dreams?

I wrote for about 40 minutes after waking up early once. I read it's more efficient actually writing about the dreams, rather than typing, any truth in that? I believe I'd save time typing them down instead of writing. I often remember more things from the dream(s) as I'm writing, so I have to keep that in mind until I'm finished writing about one dream.

How long does it take for you to write/type your dreams right after waking up? I'm talking about writing or typing everything you can remember.

At most times I have a really long dream but I just can't be bothered getting up and or writing down my dreams, because I have rubbish hand-writing and I like my things to be neat and tidy.

I just type mine up. The bad things are though, you forget.

Usually, it takes around 15-20 minutes.

I like to dedicate an hour to type up my dreams in the morning here, if I have the time and my average dream recall.

When I wake up, if I can remember any dreams, I lie in bed and try to "play" through as much of them as I can remember a few times so that I will have some conscious memory of them during the day and then I'll write them down later. When I do get around to it, it usually takes about 15-30 mins to write everything down (not sure how long it would take me to type but I prefer an actual book I can page through and carry around with me when I don't have access to a computer).

Writing it down right when you wake up is best...

I have a habit of instantly jumping up and doing what I have to do...which causes me to completly forget about what just happened for a good 10-20mins. Now what I do is don't even move when I wake up and tape record what I did. Most times I don't even right my dreams down unless they are new to me.

I don't write out my entire dreams first thing, don't have the time to.

I only write a sentence or two about each dream and later, when I have the time, come back and rewrite them in full. Sometimes all it takes is the jotting down and re reading of one word/dream for the entire dream to come back to me.

It takes me ages to write my dreams, if I do. Usually I forget. But yeah, it can take me hours. I've heard that handwriting helps in some-would-be-psycho-babble-way, stuff about personality in handwriting ,making a difference, but I'm skeptical.

Even if it does help, the difference would be minute. And I don't think it does help. For one thing, what is it even meant to help? Recall? Because if it is, there's still no reason why personality-enthused handwriting would help with recall.

Btw, keep in mind that I'm talking about the handwritring explanation I heard. There could be others. So if you're a believer, don't shoot me.

I usually write down my dreams the next night after having them. I know that's WAY too long to be writing them down, as you're supposed to write them down as soon as you wake up, but I'm too busy to do that everyday and I don't want my dream journal to become a chore or a hassal. I've remembered at least one dream for the past 10 tens in a row now, all which are pretty vivid... so I'm going to continue with the routine of waiting until the night after.

      Do a reality check.
