      In-Dream Reality Check

I have been performing Reality Checks all the time in real life to get in the habit of doing it so I'll eventually do it in my dream life. I think I achieved it. I remember looking at my hand, then looking again to see if anything changed (one of my few RC's I usually do). Nothing changed, but then I realized one of my fingers wiggling in a very odd way. left to right as if my knuckle had been turned, unless my finger was broken this wouldn't happen. So I assumed I was in a dream and did 2 more RC's. I held my nose and tried breathing, I couldn't breath. Then I tried to put my fingers through my hand, it didn't happen. Then I tried putting my hand through a solid object, that didn't work. So then I tried just slapping myself in the face and it hurt -.-

Anyone else have anything like this happen? Maybe my mind was playing tricks on me in the middle of the night? I just remembered this happened about 10 minutes ago and decided to post it.

      Hi Osgood,

I've had similar things happen to me. What happens is that sometimes you'll suspect you might be dreaming, so then you try another RC. But by only suspecting, and not being convinced, when you perform the RC your mind will generate what you're really expecting to happen: If you're pretty sure you're dreaming, your second and third RC will prove it. If you only suspect you MIGHT be dreaming, your mind generates the effect you'd expect in waking life.

It's easier said than done, but once you noticed that finger wiggling oddly, you might have been better off taking a few seconds to really think about how it would be possible to be able to move your finger in that way:
Wouldn't it have to be broken?

      If so, does it hurt?

No? Hmm.... then it could be a dream. It MUST be a dream.

I shall perform another RC, and I expect it will do what it should in a dream.

My best RC is to levitate off the ground. I lightly hop into the air and actually try to float. I just hop and wait a second or two. If it takes that long before I touch the ground again (IF I fall to the ground again), I KNOW I'm dreaming.

Alright, thanks. I think that's what had happened. I remember thinking to myself, "wtf? my finger can't do that...maybe this is the dream i've been waiting for.." *does another RC*. I've been trying to LD for only 3 nights now, and for the past 3 I've been able to remember my dreams and kept a Dream Journal on my laptop next to my bed. The techniques work great.

Thanks for your help guys, next time I'll be sure to be convinced
