      Naps

I had a nap today and I had a short dream... is it more likely to have a lucid dream when napping if you're not sleeping in your own bed? I remember sick days when I napped on the couch, I used to have sleep paralysis a lot, but by then I had no idea what it was, it was just this thing where I was lying there but couldn't move, but I could "wake up" if I truly wanted to and really tried to move.

It's like it's more likely to go through it if you're sleeping elsewhere than in your bed. Is there any general facts in that or is it just me?

Hmm. Maybe. If you are on the couch, maybe you are sleeping in a different position, and maybe there are different outer stimuli than the stuff you encounter in your room. These all can affect the depth of your sleep, which in turn will affect your noticing of sleep paralysis.

Also, perhaps when someone is sleeping in a different spot, they are instinctively less secure, resulting in a heightened sense of what is going on around them. This would include sleep paralysis.

By the way, you are a lucky duck for dreaming while you nap. I've never remembered a nap dream!

Perhaps I should try having more naps then. I don't always remember my dreams when I've had a nap. Most of my naps have taken place on my bed, but I should try having a nap somewhere that's not my bed really. You try it! See if there's any difference, if you remember something then.
