      First LD in months

Finally! I had a LD for the first time in yonks. It was a DILD, wasn't long, but the fact I was able to recognise the fact I was dreaming was a big bonus.

Basically, it started with me being in the village/town which was being attacked by these massive, spider-like robots, and me and my friends (all of them old school friends I haven't seen in ages) were trying to escape from this attack. Weaving our way through buildings and all-sorts of dangers, we eventually escape and run across the countryside, entering some woodland on a hill a way outside of the town. As we stop in a clearing in the woods which overlooked the town, I sit down and begin talking to my mates. It was then something in my head clicked and I remembered that I haven't these people in ages, and I came to the conclusion that I was dreaming. I then get up, and decide to play a little with the dream. I begin to gesture my hands like a magician/wizard, and the landscape around and inside the town begin to crack and upheave, all through the power of my will. Continuing to gesture away, I cause huge swathes of land to rise and collapse, or to crash into each other, and I annihilate not only all those robots and the town, but many square miles of land. After that I have a false awakening, which I failed to realise I was dreaming, as I noted that everything was coloured in shades of brown. I was even talking to my parents about my lucid dream, but failed to click onto the fact I was still dreaming.

After that, I wake up, feeling quite satisfied that I was able to get at least one lucid dream last night. Now, I just need to work on getting more of them, as I have plenty of things I want to do/find out about with my dreams.

Congrats on the lucidity. And what a way to spend it after having not been lucid in months.

Isn't that a kicker, when in dream you're talking about dreaming to other people and fail to realize the situation your in. I wake up from those types of dreams and wish I could kick my own ass for missing out on what should be an obvious way to get lucid.

Thanks unfortunately, the period of lucidity didn't last long, but then again, instead of focusing on stabilising the dream, I did opt for going nuts and experimenting with destruction (which I know is not great for maintaining lucidity). As for the false awakening, it was quite frustrating not clicking onto the clues, but alas, can't get it right all the time. Now, I just need to keep getting decent enough sleep so I can get more opportunities for DILDs (plus muster the time and effort to practice WILDs more often).

Congrats on your first LD in months!

Now that you know what you need to do to make them last longer.. your next lucid should only be better!

Yep... I've extended my lucid dreams a little before (no thanks to a bunch of rebellious DC's that tried to force me to wake up), so but the longest one I've had was the only WILD I managed to succeed in... now if only I could figure out what I did right back then, I could try to replicate the result... I know I went for the hypnogogic imagery technique, but I've never been able to do it again... sucks a bit...
