      Sticking with the practice

I have found in my own practice that I go through spells where I am really into Lucid dreaming and start practicing seriously and have been close in the past to being able to become lucid at will having 4 to 5 lucid dreams per week. But then for some reason I lose interest and go through dry patches where I have no lucid dreams and in fact don't really even remember my normal dreams. Its like I practice and enjoy the benefits of doing so and always want to do it but sometimes can't bring myself to give the subject my whole hearted attention. I am like a pendulum which goes full on into the dream realm and then then swings far away from it...... just wondering if anyone else has this happen with them, and any suggestions for getting into the practice and staying into it.

I just got out of a dry spell last night (2 weeks) and it seems as if I was able to get back into the LD state of mind by my will to achieve something in my LD. So just as an example, maybe you could plan to fly to another planet or something. Just try and think of something you really want to do and keep that in mind when you're falling asleep.

Well sometimes school or work will get me distracted, and I won't even have the desire to remember my dreams. That's why I'm taking full advantage of summer.

I agree with Death-Wuad.. think of things that would be REALLY COOL to do in a LD. Make a to-do list. That should keep you excited and motivated enough to keep LDing.

I just had a 3 day dry spell, if that counts...I was pretty upset at that point. I like to keep em coming every other day if I can.

It really does work, WBTB! Tried it this morning!

Edit: I woke up after 6 hours.. is that the best time? Or does after 5 hours work as well?

I think 5 or 6 hours is ok. Enough for you to sleep through your non rem cycles.
