Can Lucid dreaming lead to Sleep Paralysis?

Hey, I am new to lucid dreaming, and eager to get started.

One thing that's holding me back tho, is the fear of developing sleep paralysis from lucid dreaming.

      Does this happen a lot?

What about dying because of lucid dreaming? Has it ever happened?

      Thoughts?

      Thanks

You can get SP by having a lucid dream, just like you can get SP by having a normal dream. If you're lucid or not doesn't matter. If you have never had SP before then you will most likely not get it now. But if you want to WILD then you have to get into a SP (but you're doing that your self, totally free will).

Dying because of lucid dreaming? No, that won't happen unless you get a heart attack or a family member/angry girl friend stabs you in your sleep.

When you sleep your body goes into SP, it keeps you from falling out of bed and keeps you still, It's competly natural, and no you cant die in your dreams or LD. LD just mean your aware of your dreams and you can have more fun then you would usaly have.

      EDIT:

Also you can attempt a wild, you trick your body to fall asleep while your mind is awake, that is SP, basicly you can just jump right into your dreams, and WELCOME!

      Ok soo first:
      a) You can't die from lucid dreaming (i never heard of it)
      b) Thread title is wrong lol, lucid dreaming doesn't lead to sleep paralysis it's sleep paralysis leading to lucid dream !
      c) It's normal that you're fear of sleep paralysis, because you never know what to expect but with time it will be normal for you

Anyway, this forum is good starting point, reading tutorials and other people experiences will let you know what you can encounter
      Good luck
Ps. Sorry for my english but it's sucky, still trying to get better Hope I helped somehow

Everyone had SPs every night. It's just that it happens when your mind is asleep so your not conscious when it happens. That's why you think you never had one but your body is not new to it. SP are so you don't act out your dreams! Sleep Walking means that you didn't have SP so unless you sleep walk all the time, you have SPs every night

Why we talk so much about them is perhaps because of WILDs... Which consists to trick our body that we are sleeping that way our body falls asleep (SP) and we can enter the Sleep Cycle while conscious.

SPs cannot do any harm since you had them for so long...

For the Death thing with Lucids... As Neko-San said, you might have a heart-attack because it'll just amaze you so much how amazing it is and you'll just jump in the air and laugh and just be so happy your heart will beat as fast as lightning and you'll just die XD JK! Don't worry, there's actually slim chances of dying in a LD and if you do, it won't be the LDs fault...

Other thing to take note of is that once you will have one you might get addicted to it like me and never stop having them XD

As said, you experience sleep paralysis every time you dream, although you are not aware of it. It happens multiple times a night! Sometimes the dream begins first, other times you might feel sleep paralysis. It's just vibrations, like you are in a car on a bumpy road. Also, minor hallucinations. Nothing to be scared of.

If you focus on DILD technique instead of WILD technique, you can avoid sleep paralysis altogether.

      thanks for the replies y'all.

I thought that by trying lucid dreaming I would wake up suddenly after the dream and wouldnt be able to move and stuff, But i see what you're saying now

Im sorry if that was a stupid question, I just needed to get it off my back before I start trying.

      Whats DILD?

Here's DILD. It's the classic lucid dream induction, where you recognize a dream sign (ie. anything that's strange) and you realize you are dreaming (usually confirmed by a reality check). I like these. <3

Then there is WILD. It is were you go from sleeping to dreaming without a break in consciousness. Mind awake, body asleep. You might experience sleep paralysis with WILD.

No question is a stupid question. Except this one:

      What if Jesus was Jewish?

DILD stands for Dream Induced Lucid Dream... Well, I think, loL!

Anyways, in english, it means that you induce a lucid dream (you become lucid) during a normal dream.

Lots of people have wondered if they would die in a dream. Don't worry... You're not the only one!

Actual Sleep Paralysis, the experience or REM atonia outside of REM sleep, may not be as common as people believe it is. The majority of the time people claim to be in SP because they experienced some hypnagogic hallucinations- rarely does this include an sensed presence at all. Usually it is the vibration of the body that people say must be SP and no experience of actual paralysis whatsoever. So if you are worried about something scary happening, but you don't have a predisposition to experiencing true sleep paralysis, it's not something I'd be worried about unless the idea of feeling your body is vibrating is terrifying to you. I have never woken up in true sleep paralysis after a lucid dream, so I don't think that lucid dreaming will predispose you to that occurring post-sleep.

If someone died from lucid dreaming, we wouldn't know. But DV members don't have a habit of going missing as soon as they learn to lucid dream (it's actually the opposite ), and there are naturals who have been lucid dreaming since they were little. Again, depending on your personal beliefs... really this is just something I wouldn't even think about.

Just relax and enjoy lucid dreaming. Read about dream control, what to do if you accidentally see something scary in a dream, and you will be perfectly fine and will have tons of fun. Just start a list of exciting, fun things you want to do in your lucids and keep motivated and positive!

I was just enjoying answering a rhetorical question. This thread is rapidly degenerating into meta-wordplay. I'll stop now :-)
