      Got stuck

So i had an LD a few nights ago , i was floating around in the sky and decided to go into a room where i was suppose to meet someone , i went through the walls and what i thought was a room seem to be a small cage , when i got in i was stuck i couldnt get out , like i was caged like a dog , i tried my hardest to slide out or telee port but freaked out as i am a little claustrophobic so i decided to wake up .

how does things like this happen?

I think your mind got hold of the image of a cage and imposed the logical restraints of being caged upon you.

This sort of logical sabotage happens to me a lot, and it's something I've been working on because though I know better, I still let myself get cornered by my expectations of reality. When we're in a situation that we weren't expecting and it throws us out of our comfort zone, we often respond by making things difficult for ourselves via getting uptight.

Because you mentioned claustrophobia, it's apparent that the situation made you uncomfortable. Remind yourself you're dreaming and there is no reason to get worked-up. Sometimes getting out of a situation that has you "stuck" can be as simple as floating yourself upward and out of the situation into a different scene (and hoping your mind doesn't play silly buggers with you by creating a ceiling!)

I guess you couldn't get out because you got scared. It's a bit like nightmares: if you expect bad things to happen, they will happen. Maybe you could have got out if you had stayed calm and posititive (I don't know if you did). If I was stuck and couldn't get out by sliding or teleporting, I would propably used a cheat that removes all collisions (noclip) or maybe turned into a small animal like a mouse. The trick is to trick your mind to think that your trick works. If you know that you can't teleport, make a logical explanation to yourself that tells that you can still shrink into an animal: "Oh, I must have selected the morphing mode instead of teleporting mode" or something like that. Just don't lose all hope.

Nice play of associations playing and changing your dream world. In my opinion, this is the nicest about dreaming, becouse if you look at it from another perspective, you might see the possibilities to advance your dream "powers" this way {teleportation, summoning, transforming}. And even more. As described in billybobs tutorial about dream control, this is the way our brain works and this is the way how to trick it doing something new

I'm often surprised by how stubbornly my mind holds onto a particular reality-based notion only to finally and suddenly give in and let me accomplish what I've been trying to do. I wish I could figure out what the "something" is that lets me finally get over the hump.

I believe this happens when a part of your mind still thinks you're in the real world (ooh matrixy) and thinks that you can't physically go through walls. Where as another half of your mind knows it's dreaming. Then the two minds collide and hey you're stuck!

It's your sub-conscious trying to get a message through to you. because you have become lucid (changing the dream script) your sub-conscious has to find another way of getting a message through to you. (interfering with your lucid)

Thats what i think it is.
