Yeah, actually. She has the most vivid dreams, and would be so much better at it than me, but she refuses to try it and just tells me good luck.

Man, I'm sorry that your significant other feels this way.

When I told my ex-girlfriend about lucid dreaming when we were going out, she found it a bit strange, but didn't call me a weirdo. hehe. She just didn't see the point in it or why I found it so interesting. Go figure.

Yeah. Mine was more like that. Didn't think I was weird, she was just apathetic.

well mine just make me feel like a pyscho when i talk about it now lol... i know ive become very fascinated with it over the past few days and yeah i was a little too excited while i told her about my first ld lol but come on!!

From a previous posting of mine:

My husband.. (bless his heart).. looks at lucid dreaming as my "little hobby". He really doesn't remember his dreams (unless they're nightmares) and he doesn't really get the whole lucidity thing. Now.. this being said.. he loves me enough not to criticize me or belittle what I do. He doesn't blink an eye when I get up at 3:30 a.m. and go to the living room couch to try the wbtb method. He even asks me every weekend if I'm going to "try dreaming" tonight.

I have a whole bookcase of CDs, cassettes, dvds and books on lucid dreaming, astral projection and oobes and he's fine with it all.

One day he came home from work with a t-shirt that said "Believe In Your Dreams" and I actually broke down and cried. It just meant so much that, even though he doesn't participate, he recognized how important this is to me. Yep.. he's a keeper!

well my GF jumped right into it when i told her about it. She didnt call me wierd or anything, she wanted to learn how to do it and was really exicted. Sorry man, its like finding a girl who loves to play videogames, they are few and far beteween

Heh, I play video games. I'm more addicted than my boyfriend is. I told him about lucid dreams once and he just looked at me like I'm strange. So I never mentioned it again.

Its a bit weird too since we talk about our dreams all the time (he has some pretty interesting ones) and he knows all about SP and stuff, but he just can't take that extra leap.

The first time I told my bf I don't think he really "got" it - understood what LDs are all about - but I told him about it again a week or so later and he was actually interested - he listened to me and asked questions, ect. I explained that I was trying to have them again (that I used to have them as a kid), and he was supportive. He even helped me out - at one point I thought (because sometimes I go to bed before him, and I'm lying in bed sleeping and he's up next to me watching tv or playing video games with the headphones on), that since he was up and I was asleep, that maybe if I asked him to flash a flashlight at my (sleeping) eyes a few times, starting an hour after i went to sleep, that perhaps I could use that to go lucid - my own personal living, breathing novadreamer* He was game, and for a couple weeks, every night that I went to sleep before him, I said "Hey babe, remember to flash me with the flashlight in an hour or so, k?" and he just said "ok honey" and kissed me goodnight. He's a keeper too, I think <3


*unfortunately it didn't work - I'm not sure why. A few times the flashlight woke me up - the other times I didn't notice it at all.

It probably sounds strange to most folks.

She may be worried that you will try to live out sexual fantasies in your lucid dreams. Try to reassure her that that's not what it's about.

Mine is open to it, but has a hard time recalling her dreams. I've been trying to help. She once remembered that she realized she was dreaming in a dream,… but can't remember the content of the dream. She did say that the "sensation" of lucidity was great and that she really liked it. That's really all she remembered.

A lot of people think LDing has to do with escapism... that might be a misconception she has.

My BF thinks it is completely insane, and thinks I should be committed to an institution, or at least shut the hell up about it. He got briefly interested for about a nanosecond when I told him it was just like your own private holodeck, but then lost interest again when he found out that you can't control everything all of the time. (You can't on the holodeck either, if he had been remembering correctly--that's why they always got in trouble there. Therefore, lucid dreaming is better than the holodeck.)
