      In the beginning

How did you for the first time hear about lucid dreaming?

As for me, I was reading a magazine, and one of the articles was about dreams. It was also mentioned that it was possible to lucid dream, and control some aspects of the dream. So then I got interested, searched for info about lucid dreaming on the net, and finally found this site in february.

I am curious about how others got a interest in lucid dreaming.
      Are you dreaming?

hmm, i was looking round the net, and i saw some article on satanism so me and a friend ( i was stopping round at his then) decided to see what kind of shit people like that belive in, for a laugh.

Eventually i stumbled across a astral projection site (the term was 'this has no connection to satanic etc etc blah') and i got interested, so i wen to have a look and did more searches and got linked to this site from an AP site. Now i think that OBEing is a buncha crap but it helped me to lucid dreaming to there must be some good to it!

I had been having lucid dreams for awhile before I ever knew what they were or realized they had a name, I would just tell people that I could sometimes control my dreams. Then one day I watched Vanilla Sky and there was the whole reference to the lucid dream and I decided to look it up online...found this forum...and have been lding away ever since.

      how

A friend brought to my attention the movie, "Waking Life". Then I started researching it on my own - online and such.
Within a few weeks, I'd had my first LD - a very simple, 15 second one. A month or so later, another friend bought
a book for me about Lucid Dreaming. I had a few more simple ones. Then I sought out more info online and found
the LD website made by Stephen LaBerge's group. http://www.lucidity.com if anyone's interested. Most of you have
probably already seen it. Lots of cool info, but many of the dreamers were so much further advanced than I was at
that point that I shyed away from it a bit. Then a year after being introduced to Waking Life, and about one year ago,
I found and joined Dreamviews. From last September to last December, or so, I found Dreamviews incredibly
inspiring and had several dozen LD's. Many thanks to the members from that time who helped instruct and inspire
me so much. And also many thanks for all the good vibes and prayers.
Just a friendly reminder to do a reality check. : ) Are you dreaming? How do you know?

I used to be a natural lucid dreamer when I was quite young, and I never realized there was anything unusual about this, nor that I could control more than just myself. After a few years of dreaming like a normal person, I stumbled across a thread on dreaming in the off-topic section of a bike forum, started up a thread on dreaming in another forum I frequent, and eventually got pointed here. Alas, I don't think I'll ever be a complete natural again, but at least I can try to become a lucid dreamer once more.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

If you mean the sticky thread about how users found this forum, I don't quite agree. Because this thread is mainly about how people heard of lucid dreaming, and isn't so much about how people found this forum. Hence, I think a thread similarly to this I have started, was not posted.
Anyway, thanks for mentioning it, but I have already posted in the other thread a long time ago.

Well, I joined a Yahoo group called Dreams and Visions, and somebody posted about having a weird dream, and someone else replied and said that she was having a lucid dream. I thought, "What's a lucid dream?" so I did some Google searches. I found a page that explained it, but I kept searching, and eventually, found this forum. The rest is history, as they say.
