      Staying in a lucid dream

      Whats up? im new to the forums and have a question.

      I've always been able to lucid dream, before i knew what it was. but i always have a problem, i cant stay in them, everything starts to get blurry or fade out and i leave the dream. ive tried rubbing my hands, spinning, sometimes they work, but only for a short time. any ways to stay in the dream, and make it more clear(not blurry and cutting out on me all the time.)

      You might be getting too excited (don't we all, lol?) and I suggest trying to calm yourself by walking or just talking to the DCs like in a normal dream so your brain doesn't completely knock you out of the dream from gaining too much awareness.

      Also, try these options:

      * Touch your face
      * Rub your hands
      * Poke a DC
      * Walk or look around the scene
      * Touch the ground, or the wall, or hold an object
      * Spin on your axis
      * Try talking out loud, etc
      * Open a door and walk through it, or turn a corner in a street

      Also, I usually don't try and close your eyes. I can kind of get you out of the stream of the dream. It works for some for stabilising the dream, but not for others.

      Don't do anything fast-paced, exciting or scary as you stabilise your dream - wait until you can see everything clearly. Don't stress, or think you have to do "x" amount of things in the limited time you are lucid.

      From experience, many of my dreams are like yours.

      I believe when we improve our recall and learn to become lucid and stay lucid normally, we will then be able to continue on with that method in following lucid dreams and be able to work on the more interesting and exciting goals that often overwhelm our initial experiences.

      Don't have big goals first up, but always have a thing to do - such as talking to DCs, flying, hovering, or just exploring the scenery.

      When I'd get the blurry, unstable dreams I used to first, find my hands and focus on them. If that didn't stabalize things I'd yell out for the dream to clear or I'd say something like, 'this is my dream' which was me trying to assert that I am the one in control. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't.

      After it worked wonders for me I became a huge fan of the "Clarity, NOW!" technique. Just yell it out in an assertive voice. Your subconscious will realize you're prepared to kick its ass and will give you control over the dream. Well... that's how it worked for me, anyways heh
      In one of my most vivid lucid dreams, I realized I was dreaming. It started to fade, so I started staring at my hands. So it faded a bit more slowly. Not gonna waste my time trying that again, but I guess it works for some people.

      In the one where I tried staring at my hands, before I became lucid I was trying to get my camera to photograph some polar bears. I realized that my contacts weren't in (even though nothing was blurry like it is in RL w/o them), and so I was trying to put my contacts in in my mom's bathroom. I passed by her digital alarm clock that was on the counter, where is usually isn't, and realized I was lucid. So for once, I was very glad to have poor eyesight!

      Hmm even without my contacts in, that was the most vivid dream I've ever hard. I wonder what would've happened if I'd put my dream contacts in?!

      just take time to stabalize dream by doing things that have already been mentioned such as rubbing your hands together or touching things. (spinning might make you lose lucidity though. If you do it right though, it's supposedly the most effective.) Just take your time and when you feel like you're ready, then go and do what you want.

      btw... poking a DC? never heard that one before

      I did it once and it helped a bit.

      The DC reacted so it got me more involved with the dream itself, rather than the fact that I'm lucid dreaming.

      I tend to focus on my real body when I'm lucid (which usually makes it fade fast) so that kind of helps me focus on my dream body while still maintaining lucidity of my surroundings.
