Being able to.. "induce" SP is as simple as being awake when your body begins going to sleep, I can usually hit SP within 10-15 minutes no matter what time of day it is.. the more physically tired you are the better. It happens every time you fall asleep, doesnt matter what time it is . Its just when you are more tired after a full day, it is easier to slip into sleep.
Do the same thing you would normally do during WBTB at night if your napping in the day, if you find yourself laying there for like an hour not being able to fall asleep, its because your either not tired enough or trying to think to hard about it. Go to sleep normally and you shouldn't fall into a deep enough sleep to the point where you'll crash for a few hours, most likely you might wake up a tiny bit after you initially fall asleep, try to work on your SP then.
I find i need to be tired to be able to constantly achieve a good level of SP, because my body wants to go to sleep without me telling it to.. it happens naturally every time you sleep, just let it happen.. Its just a matter of remaining conscious enough to be aware its happening, but not to awake to not be able to sleep.
I hit SP 9/10 nights without trying, it just happens. Find a way that you can keep your brain active, but not something that you have to constantly.. think about. Just relax
Everyone has their own methods of relaxation, and different.. "limits" on what they can do in terms of keeping your mind active, and letting go of your body.
Theres probably 50 methods on the forums, best thing I have found personally for learning is just to set up multiple alarms to wake me up over and over, or just hit your snooze button.. You wont get much sleep, but its good while your just learning about the transitional state. You get used to what it feels like to not be awake, and not asleep at the same time, so when you feel this later on you can recognize it and.. yeah. If i try to force SP, it doesn't happen. Doing this means you can fall asleep regularly, dont even think about LDing. Just go to bed normally . You will wake up regardless in 20 or 30 mins (whatever your alarm set at) and it will leave you in a perfect position to experience SP if you try not to wake up to much.
Basically, you fall asleep regularly, body naturally goes into SP, you wont feel it because you will not be "conscious" of whats going on in real life.. waking up shortly after this happens leaves you in a very very relaxed and sleep state, but still aware enough to be able to recognize whats going on.
Eventually the sound of your alarm wont "jolt" you awake, you will just barely slip out of sleep, usually I am still under the effects of SP, or a mild case at least.. from there it takes a matter of 30 secs to fall asleep usually, and you can really feel your body go back into full SP almost instantly, its a great way to get used to the sensation so that when it happens when you try to WILD or something, you dont focus on it as much because your used to it. Again when you first start doing this you wont get much sleep, but soon you wont need the alarm, and you will be able to seamlessly flow from wide awake, to sp. At least thats how it works for me.. its almost second nature after a week of doing this.
Sorry if none of that makes sense just kinda how it works for me, might be completely different for you.
