      Lucidity and Sexual abstinence?

Greetings! It's been a while since the last time I posted something. Lots of changes have been developing in my life. Well anyways.... Some years ago, when I was studying in a certain New Age group (they referred to themselves as Gnostics) the teacher recommended that, in order to obtain lucidity, we (the students at that time) should avoid having sex, even masturbation was forbidden... this was because of some certain strange theory that I will not explain because that would be outside of the purposes of this post. The thing is that, I remember having my first lucid dream during that period of abstinence, also I have to say that I was pretty nahive at that time and also very excited about entering in that kind of group so maybe it was just my psychological condition that helped me to attain lucidity. I LDed frequently during that time until I found out that that group in particular was a complete hoax, I was disappointed and left the group. I finished studying my carreer and got a job and completely forgot about sexual abstinence. Ld's decreased to the point of being unexistent.

So I just wanted to know if anyone thinks that abstinence has an influence in Lucidity or it has nothing to do with it at all. Please share your thoughts.

      Thanks!

Yeah I also believe this, Nikola Tesla, the prohpet of our electric age, and master of lucid dreaming also claimed sexual abstinence greatly influences your vividness. He actually was celibate for life just for this purpose.. he created his invetions in his lucid dreams. According to Wilhelm Reich, founder of theories of body language, we store energy all the time.. this tension, this energy, is sexual energy, and is released, and lost after orgasm.

Sounds like a placebo. I have lucid dreams whether I have sex or not and I really see no reason to draw a correlation between the two.

I have doing this for over 55 years and sex or lack of has never seemed to make any difference at all. However, I will say that I have seen a difference in myself and others that if we do something that we think will help then it will (the Placebo Effect). So if you want to be without sex to help you LD, then do just that. Whatever works for you.

Personally I will keep doing both whenever I get the chance.

I am a chronic masturbator and I have LDs very frequently so I don't think it has any effect on me.

      I was just kidding you.

I think that your point was well made. There is so much dis-information out there from people who mouth things that sound good or they have read them several times and decide that it must be true with no person experience or real knowledge of the truth. It is good to see your honesty.
