future? same underground style as now. It will NEVER get mainstream and thats no problem to me.

you seem to notice people on this forum have lots of things in common besides enjoying dreams. Its a personality thing im sure.

I spent like 45 minutes trying to ask a friend Why he didnt "find the idea as exciting as I do? " No matter all the explaining he just couldnt comprehend the concept. No matter how many comparisons to movies/videogames and explanations and definitions it just didnt click.

      bewildering.

i know what you mean james, same thing with my friends also. but the people who are interested will invent new things to enhance the experience, that's how i feel anyway. for example the nova dreamer was at one point unthinkable.
i do think more people will become interested in it once there are some more breakthroughs in the field.

as technology progresses, i really do think at LEAST more scientists and researchers will approach the subject. LDing really is an unbelievable thing, and finding out how to record, share, etc. lucid dreams by recording brainwaves and bio-electric-activity will really be a money maker, so i think in the future it WILL be mainstream, since america is so greedy. lol i have no idea how they'll try to re-create the experiences.... binaural beats already completed the task of changing your brainwave frequencies, so the only thing left to do is figure out how to change the wavelength and amplitude of your brainwaves before we can share eachothers lucid dreams!!!! hahaha well at least i hope so... im not a neurologist....

I agree with you on that.

I think, if you don't have an interest in it, the only way you will get an interest is by trying it yourself. I saw on the news awhile ago when they released The Dream Mask, the newscaster had to use the mask the night before after not really knowing much about lucid dreaming, and ended up loving it.

Like you said, I think it is sort of a personality thing. Or a creativity thing. I'm a writer, so I constantly day dream and create new ideas. I tried to talk to my mother about it, and she said it just sounded too weird to her, and that she'd never want to do it.
Never want to fly? Never want to do anything you wouldn't be able to do in waking life?

I don't really understand it either.

For technology affecting LD'in further, I say that it probably will. Anything hat's affected be technology will eventually be affected by technological growth. As for the recording dreams, they could be rcorded, and possibl even decoded, but I really think they'll hae to be played on a media other than the sleeping human brain, considering that each human brain is different, physically as well as mentally.

Well, we already have the technology the scan and record brainwaves in real time. Problem is we dont know how what does what.. we know a shit ton about the brain we just really dont have a proper theory. All we've been doing is whoring information in the however many years. We know whats there, we just cant connect all the the dots yet. Its just a matter of time before we have a complete and accurate 'map' of the brain. Obviously there will be exceptions, but this will go places.

The only reason you see the monitor in front of your eyes right now is because your brain tells you its there. As sci-fi as it sounds, whats going to happen when you or a third party gets to decide what your brain tells you. If we can do it fast and efficient enough it will be crazy. Lucid dreaming at the click of a button please .

Reverse engineering anything means we get to learn how it works inside out. Its not going to be perfect or anything, nothing ever is. Technology is anything that doesn't quite work yet.

I really believe there are better things that will happen with this kind of knowledge.. but LDing will be a much bigger topic in the years to come. It is growing pretty fast already since the information has become really public since the net. Sure people have been actually practicing it for at least thousands of years.. but really if we had a time line, it would have made a huge boom in popularity in the last 20 years.

I have the same trouble convincing friends of the sheer amazement that lucid dreams offer. The thing is, a lot of them play RPG's and fantasy games to escape from the real world - but LD's are infinitely better escapes from the real world than video games (not that I don't love video games ). I guess I will never be able to understand why only a handful of people find LD's so interesting.

Dreams have always captivated people and we have yet to discover its mysteries. So as

a resault sience will continue to study it in hopes of an answer, and as our

understanding of the brain increases I think such technologies could very well soon

exist. I personally would like to see a dream recording like machine. and to answer your

first question, no it won't because most people won't fully understand haveing not ever

had a lucid dream, and because to alot of people dreams are just dreams and nothing

very important. Because of this people will not get motivated to try and get a lucid

dream, and because of that they will never get one and experience its wonders.
