      WILD attempt

Well, it failed, but it was awesome!

I didn't have any way of waking myself up in the night except for naturally waking up. I may try drinking a lot of water before bed tonight, or I might not. So, I decided to try a WILD right away. I was kind of tired, so that helped. I concentrated on breathing, counting 1 as I breathed in, and say "I'm dreaming" as I breath out, 2, "I'm dreaming", and so on.

After I got to about 66 or 67 I started noticing some lights, and my body felt heavier. I kept counting, and then started to create a dream scape. It was working for a bit, and I started feeling like I was sinking and floating at the same time. It was really weird; kind of hard to explain. It's like I was drifting away. I think the reason the attempt failed is because I started getting a little scared and my breathing got a bit erratic.

I really liked the feeling, so this time I'll probably do better! Also, It didn't help that my Allergies were really bad and I kept having drainage that I just couldn't help but swallow. I tried not to for a bit, but I started gagging a bit. I think I would have anyway, so it didn't matter.

So, maybe WILD's can work, even if you're just going to sleep without first having a few hours of sleep. I am defanitly trying it again tonight though!

Keep it up. Even if it doesnt work, it sounds like it's giving you confidence. All of these sensations can be good fun to experience. =]

Maybe you should use the time to meditate?

Meditation and realxation techniques are GREAT when attempting a WILD!

Controlling your thoughts during the day also helps both DILDs and WILDs (or any other type) to constantly immerse your thoughts during the day with the thought of dreaming. Always have that question "am I dreaming" in the back of your mind.

As you're going through your day, shopping, driving, etc. relate everything to the possibility of a dream, and how you would react if you discovered you were dreaming. This will REALLY help your frequency of LDs with any method.

You talk to vacuum cleaners and safes, you've had apple trees growing in your living room, tigers and horses in your dining room, an elephant in your bedroom. I've seen you locked in a jail in the middle of your living room and once someone swore they saw you floating in mid-air! How do you explain that, Major Nelson!?

This surprised me, because I usually hear people saying that you should sleep five or six hours before a WILD attempt. Most, if not, all the tutorials on this site mention this to be the (only) method.

I always try (well for about the past 1 and a 1/2 week.. and in the past on some occassions) to WILD before going to bed. I shall one day be able to just go to sleep consciously and after about six hours (should be enough.. right?!?) wake up and continue to do the stuff I think is worth doing till the day ends, get to sleep consciously once again, etcetera..

Meditation really helps me to speed up the process of SP too, because I really learn how to relax completely to focus on my entire body and just relax all my muscles thoroughly!

Heh, this sounds just like me, right down to the allergies. In my recent experiments with WILDing in the initial period of falling asleep (not sure what to call it), I've been having the same drifting feeling. My problem is that when I start to see and hear hallucinations, my eyeballs twitch and throw me out of the cycle.

Oh my god, your eyes twitch? That happened to me! I just tried to go along with it though xD Because my eyes just started mooving real fast, and then I started to see some stuff.

Maybe, just maybe, you could induce yourself to REM without first going through other stages? It could be possible, or my eyes just could be weird. You never know! ;D

Yes you don't need sleep first to do a WILD. Also, if you smoke herbs it's alot easier.. atleast for me (but then again, ancient shamans also used herbs to induce WILD)

Even if you don't make the whole transition, the feeling is exciting. Especially in the early attempts.

I had that once. My eyes were moving soo fast I thought they were opening! Eventually they did, poorly! It was an incredible neat feeling though!

I do have that quite a lot actually during WILD attempts... that my eyes just happen to open or that I think they will, either it's because I think I'm already in a dream or it 'just' happens!
