Thumbs up My First Lucid Dream!...and thread!

I had my First LD this morning and its inspired me to join DreamViews!

I've been trying for like 3 days now. Trying to WILD, DILD and MILD. I know i should stick to one technique but i just wanted to try everything!
Anyhow, last night i went to bed as normal, occasionaly slipping lucid dreaming into my thoughts. About 5 or so hours into sleep my alarm went off as i expected. I wrote down a dream that i had remembered quickly and then tryed to WILD, but i think i must have fallen to sleep because i can remember a couple of dreams involving a mountain and flying on some polar bears
The next thing i knew i was in my front garden. I realised i was dreaming at this point but i don't know how. Instead of getting exited which i was suprised at. I stay calm. i remember doing the nose reality check and being able to breath which felt really really weird! I also at some point remember counting my fingers and only having 1 finger on one of my hands!
I remember being in my house doing the nose RC again because it was so good. I tryed to think of something to do and for some reason came up with the idea of walking through the mirror in the living room. I think i'd read about this somewhere before hand. However, when i tryed i coudln't pass through it and i just sort of touched it like you would a normanl mirror. I noticed in the reflection of the mirror that the door behind me was closed, yet when i looked round it was clearly open which was cool. I got annoyed that i couldnt get into the mirror so pulled it off in anger lol. But there was just another mirror underneath. I kept doing this until eventually there was just a broken frame underneath. Next i thought i should make someone appear. So i said to my self that this person would be behind me when i turned round. But they didn't appear. However, a little robotic owl was on my couch but thats besides the point. I went upstairs and logged onto my computer and onto the internet to search for images of people i knew to see if they even existed. But as soon as i clicked images i woke up.
And very happily i did aswell!

However, the problem i seemed to be having was having the belief to change things in my dreams or do things that would be impossible in real life.
Anyone got any tips on how i could improve this?

      Thanks for Reading!

Congratulations! I remember when I had my first LD...very exciting stuff to say the least!

Incidentally, this is my first post on DV with my new nickname. (My last yahoo email account was deleted.)

Thats a long dream for your first lucid. Don't be frustrated at your dream control. If you even remembered to try some things in your first lucid, you are ahead of the game.

I wonder if the door appeared in the mirror because you were trying to walk through the mirror. Trying to use the mirror as a doorway made the door appear open. It would be cool if you just walked through the door that was reflected in the mirror.

I'm glad you found out how to LD. I thought sleeping was a waste of time, so thats why I joined

maybe you dont have control because you don't think it's a dream enough? I suppose you just need confidence and believe in yourself
